My thoughts on breastfeeding 🤱🏻 💭
I have been breastfeeding for 6 months now, which I am very proud of. Not to say it’s been an easy road! Here are some of the things I have discovered:
1) A baby’s latch can make a huge impact to the breast feeding journey. H had a tongue tie when was born, which affected his latch and made it VERY painful for me. I honestly didn’t think I would continue for long. Fortunately we had access to a breastfeeding midwife and service to release his tongue tie, which has made a world of difference!
2) I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I do. Yes it is restricting and I can’t go out for long unless I pump beforehand but the bond I feel when feeding is something else 💖
3) I am hungry all the time! We may save money not using formula but I have probably spent it on extra food 🙈 breastfeeding burns ~500cal a day. A good excuse if any for more chocolate…
4) All my clothes are comfy and easy access. I don’t really buy ‘nice’ clothes if they impractical for feeding.
5) The best part is watching H grow and thrive knowing he’s getting all he needs 🥰 we have started the weaning journey which is exciting and a bit scary!
