Employee wellbeing is a priority for Colin Brown, Chief Culture Officer of William Purves Funeral Directors, who contributes to today's issue of The Herald with his article "Why funeral directors need grief 'first aid' training".

Although grief is a burden carried by the affected families first and foremost, we acknowledge that it is shared in part by our funeral directors who witness their sadness first-hand.

ROBERTSON
(Elgin)

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Mark, at his home surrounded by his loved ones, on Friday 18th July 2025, aged 58 years. Beloved husband to Isla, and father to Russell, Tasmin, Savanna, and Cade. Survived by his father, Brian, and brother, Peter. Mark was reserved but cheeky, and a true homebody. Affectionately known as Big Mac, he served as an SSAC at RAF Kinloss, 81 SU, RAF Benbecula, and Strike Command, High Wycombe. After his service, he worked with Atos and Capgemini in Forres, Nairn, and Inverness over the years. He was quiet and thoughtful, enjoying his free time reading books, watching movies, listening to music, and being with his family. His love for history was well known by those around him, a vast ocean of knowledge in the form of trivia and facts alike. Mark was a hard worker, always the first to offer help. He was filled with wonderful stories and had incredible hindsight.

So fully and powerfully loved, time spent with him and memories of him will be forever treasured.

Funeral service will be held at W.G. Catto Funeral Home, Linkwood Road, Elgin, on Thursday 31st July, at 11 a.m. All family and friends are respectfully invited. Family flowers only, please, but donations, if desired, will be forwarded to the Scottish Air Ambulance Service.
