Davidson Chalmers Stewart Rural Partner and Moray Chamber Director Henrietta Talbot has spoken to The Scotsman about key Inheritance Tax (IHT) reforms coming in April 2026 that could significantly affect business owners, farmers and property holders.

The changes include new caps on Agricultural Property Relief (APR) and Business Property Relief (BPR), potential impacts on pensions and lifetime gifts, and mean that proactive estate planning is now essential to protect family assets and future successions.

A quick solar tip during the snowy weather ❄️

With heavy snow across the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire, we thought we’d share something we’re often asked in snowy conditions.

When snow settles on solar panels, it can sometimes slide off as temperatures change. Because of that, it’s best to avoid walking directly underneath panels or parking vehicles below them while snow is lying on the roof.

The good news is that panels are designed for winter conditions and the snow will usually clear on its own, there’s no need to try and remove it yourself.

Stay warm and safe, from Nala our snow dog and the aes renewables team 🐾❄️
