Worth reading. We see occasional suspected foot fractures that present in some of our elderly but quite mobile clients. It can often be misinterpreted as a foot sprain by many as it can happen with something as innocuous as stepping off a bus or high step. If anyone ever feels it’s possibly more than a sprain then consulting a Podiatrist or their Doctor might be considered.
It is Osteoporosis awareness month 🦴
Osteoporosis is a condition where our bones become weaker and can put us at an increased risk of having a fracture (even from a small bump).
Having osteoporosis doesn’t necessarily mean we will definitely break a bone and there is plenty you can do to reduce your risk.
Exercise and physical activity can not only improve your bone strength, but also the risk of falls, which may offer benefits in the management of osteoporosis. Weight-bearing exercise and resistance exercise are particularly important for improving bone density and helping to prevent osteoporosis.
