1️⃣ We remain in level 1 of the covid protection levels in Scotland next week. These levels will be reviewed again next Tuesday.

πŸŽ„ If you're travelling during the festive period please make sure you're aware of levels wherever you're travelling to - guidance may change at short notice.

➑️ You can check this and the specific restrictions under each level on this link:
https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-protection-levels/

➑️ You should also be aware of the current festive period guidance at this link - this is also subject to change:
https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-festive-period/

❌ The restriction on in-home meetings with other households is still in place.

🌳 We can still meet outdoors with up to eight people from three households though.

😷 We should be avoiding car sharing where possible; observing physical distancing; avoiding crowded places; wearing face coverings where necessary; and washing our hands and hard surfaces regularly.

⛔️ Please note our neighbours in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City are moving to level 3 from Friday - you must not travel into these areas other than for essential purposes.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

There is a minibus available for people who need it in the Burghead and Hopeman area.
This can help you get to the surgery in Lossiemouth, for example.
A very useful initiative, and thanks to the whole committee and the volunteer drivers.
Please pass this information on to those not on the internet

After a wee break, The Comm Chippy is back open this Friday, 30th October, 4pm till 7pm.

Takeaway only this week, please contact us to book your slot.
We unfortunately don't have the frying capacity of a regular chip shop so pre-orders are fairly essential to help keep a steady flow of customers.

Call us on 01340 820313, message us or hit the Book Now button.

Look forward to welcoming you all back this Fryday. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ»

Transport problems getting to the Lossiemouth Medical Centre?

A quick update on the Hopeman Community Minibus:

"Having sat unused for some months, the minibus had a couple of mechanical problems that have now been resolved. As a registered Scottish Charity, we have been able to secure some funding that will allow us to help people get to medical appointments at the Moray Coast Health Centre in Lossiemouth, while the satellite surgeries at Hopeman and Burghead remain closed due to CoVID restrictions. We can also offer a service to Dr Gray’s and other medical institutions in Elgin for those whose age and mobility does not make the use of Stagecoach buses easy.

Please do also try to use Moray Council’s Dial M for Moray dial-a-bus service which is β€œAn accessible door to door bus service for anyone, regardless of age or disability, who is unable to use existing forms of transport or does not have access to a regular bus service.” You need to register to use the service by calling the Moray Council Contact Centre on 0300 1234565. Use of that service is free if you have a Bus Pass, and journeys can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance. However, it is accepted that this service is generally not available during times that the buses are being used for schools runs, so we can certainly help fill that gap.

The dedicated Booking Line number is 07485 561007. When you call, please have all the following information available:

1. Your name

2. Your phone number (both landline if you have one and mobile)

3. Your address including postcode

4. The date the journey is required

5. The time and place of your appointment or other reason for booking. Please also have the address and postcode of your destination available if your journey is not to Moray Coast Health Centre or Dr Gray’s.

6. Whether you require a return journey and the desired pick up time; the minibus is likely to wait for you if it is a short duration visit.

7. If you are unable to enter and exit the minibus yourself (it is 2 staircase sized steps), we would highly recommend that you bring someone from your CoVID support bubble along to help you. Please make us aware of this at the time of booking.

8. Finally, will you be using a walking aid other than a walking stick?

The booking line is not manned continuously as we are all volunteers with other commitments, so you may well have to leave a message and we will get back to you.

Please be aware that the Minibus does not have a lift facility so cannot handle those in wheelchairs. Also be aware that the wearing of seat belts and face masks is currently a condition of carriage unless you have a medical exemption certificate for either or both.

Our volunteer drivers will also be wearing masks, and we have CoVID procedures in place for cleaning the minibus between trips."
