🎉 EMS Healthcare are thrilled to share that we have won the Environmental Sustainability Impact Award at the Society for Clinical Research Sites - SCRS Global Site Solutions Summit!

This award, presented for the very first time in 2025, celebrates organisations leading the way towards a greener future in clinical research. For us, it’s a powerful reflection of our belief that scientific progress must always align with environmental responsibility.

Dr Clare Grace, CEO of EMS Healthcare, said:

“We are delighted to win SCRS Site Solutions Summit's Environmental Sustainability Impact Award. At EMS Healthcare, we believe life-changing clinical research must go hand-in-hand with protecting our planet. This recognition reflects the commitment of our team, who have embedded sustainability across our operations.

"From renewable energy and waste reduction to greener transport and community engagement - proving that sustainable clinical research is not only possible, but essential to create a future where good health is within everyone's reach.”

EMS Healthcare has been proudly carbon neutral since 2021 and we're on track to achieve net zero by 2045. By integrating sustainable practices across energy use, waste management, transport, operations, and staff culture, we are proving that clinical research can serve both people and the planet.

👏 Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and finalists! Together, we’re showing how innovation can continue driving the clinical research industry forward.

Last night EMS Healthcare were thrilled to host the first Wirral PI Academy event.

An initiative by the Wirral Research Collaborative, and supported by NHS Cheshire and Merseyside and EMS Healthcare, the evening brought together an incredible line-up of experts from primary care, secondary care, academia, the voluntary sector and commercial research.

From James Perry's inspiring introduction, through to engaging talks on governance, partnerships, and career development as a Principal Investigator, the event was packed with insight and collaboration.

It was a pleasure to welcome attendees aboard some of our mobile research units that are bringing clinical research into the hearts of communities.

This was just the first in a series of Wirral PI Academy events - and if last night was anything to go by, the future looks very exciting for research across the region.

👏 A huge thank you to all the speakers, organisers, and attendees who made it a success.

The NHS 10 year plan described three big shifts will transform the health service - delivering better care for everyone, wherever they live - with care moving closer to home, technology making health easier to manage, and prevention taking centre stage.

Sarka Oldham, Chief Commercial Officer at EMS Healthcare, said:

"I'm especially encouraged by the government’s plan to shift healthcare out of hospitals and into communities, bringing care closer to those who need it most.

"Focusing on underserved areas, tackling health inequalities, and expanding research in to the heart of communities is exactly the kind of progress we need to deliver more accessible, inclusive care."

At EMS Healthcare, we’re helping make this vision a reality by supporting community-based healthcare and research - empowering patients every step of the way.

🎥 Did you catch the BEST4 mobile unit on ITV News this week?

The spotlight was on the landmark BEST4 trial, led by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Cambridge, which aims to transform early detection of oesophageal cancer without the need for endoscopy.

The mobile unit was featured taking cancer research directly into communities across the South of England. Over a three year period, the trial will invite participants to take part in a simple capsule sponge test - a cost-effective and less invasive alternative to endoscopy that can detect early signs of oesophageal cancer.

“It’s important to get a diagnosis as early as possible. Easy, simple, and I’ll get the results very quickly,” said John Paffett, a participant of the trial, who chose to take part because he knows firsthand the consequences of a delayed diagnosis - it took five years for the cancer in John's leg to be diagnosed, resulting in an amputation when he was sixteen.

The BEST4 trial, supported by NIHR, Cancer Research UK and Cancer Research UK Cancer Prevention Trials Unit at Queen Mary University of London, is a key step in easing NHS pressures while improving outcomes through earlier, community-based detection.

Irene Debiram-Beecham, Principal Research Nurse at the University of Cambridge, explained: "We have a lot of patients out there who have suffered with heartburn and acid reflux, as a result of that, some of those have underlying Barrett's oesophagus which is never detected. The first time we see some of these patients is when they've presented with a cancer."

That’s a wrap on NHS Confederation Expo 2025 - and what a brilliant few days it’s been!

From a powerful keynote speech by The Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP with Matthew Taylor, and Lord Victor Adebowale CBE, to compelling panels including Sir Stephen Powis and Sir Chris Whitty, the message was loud and clear:

✅ Care must shift closer to communities
✅ Prevention is key to a sustainable NHS
✅ Innovation and partnership will drive meaningful change
✅ Reducing health inequalities is essential

We were especially proud to see mobile healthcare delivery highlighted in many of this year’s sessions - including interventions like cancer screening in high-risk areas, which are already helping to reverse early diagnosis disparities.

Speakers throughout the conference reinforced the need for system-wide collaboration to embed prevention into everyday healthcare practices - ultimately improving health outcomes and easing pressure on NHS services.

With over 8,000 attendees, we were thrilled to welcome new and existing relationships to our stand. Whether you joined us for a tour of the FIT awareness unit, explored how we can support your teams, or dropped by for a chat - thank you for your ideas, and enthusiasm.

And to keep those conversations flowing, we served up over:

🍓 65kg of strawberries
🍫 82 bars of Dairy Milk
💧 122 litres of fruit-infused water
