After spending many years treating people with orthobionomy I have recently refocused and now concentrate primarily on the treatment of horses, which after many years of study, research and treatments remains my passion. I would however, like to give a big thank you to all the lovely people who I've been able to treat over the years here in Ellesmere and for their continued support and good wishes.

If you would like your horse to experience the wonderful gentle method of working together with orthobionomy to release pain and tension then please get in touch! I also teach equine bodywork courses to owners and riders following the principles of orthobionomy with Equine BodyHelp. These courses are suitable for beginners of equine bodywork.

Finally I'm able to focus on treating horses again and am offering the Equine BodyHelp courses here in the UK where owners and riders can learn simple equine bodywork techniques to treat their own horses.

I offer one- or two-day courses for Equine BodyHelp, which follow the principles of orthobionomy, at your own stable. Experience with horses is a strict requirement, but no other therapeutic experience is necessary. You will be given a full detailed script with colour photos with easy to follow instructions that you can use in the stable after the course and you will then be able to effectively help your horse with its balance and alignment directly after the course.

I am willing to travel to you to offer a workshop, demonstration, presentation or talk. Please get in touch if you should be interested. Anybody willing to organise a workshop will be able to take part for free.

You can find more information about the different courses that I offer on my website: https://www.ortho-bionomy-uk.com/courses/for-horses/

If you're unsure if you'll be able to do it then check out my blog! https://orthobionomyukblog.com/2024/10/24/equine-bodyhelp-courses-equine-bodywork-for-beginners/

I'm not sure who enjoyed the treatment more, the companion horse in the next box (shown here) or the client himself (in later photos)!! Whatever, both clearly had big releases indicated by the yawning and tongue chewing. 😊😊

For the Ortho-Bionomy practitioners out there......

Here I share with an international group of SOBI teachers how I use the follow-on response to treat the neck and the spine. You'll find more videos on my YouTube channel and on my blog: https://orthobionomyukblog.com/

Here you'll find a collection of videos that lead you through some self-care techniques that may help you to manage any pain in your lower back and your neck. I made these videos during lockdown in 2020. During this time I was unable to work and treat patients but was acutely aware that they would still need ongoing help to manage their pain during this difficult time....

One of my clients recently put to paper the way she feels when she enters my therapy room to have an orthobionomy treatment. This lady has been through many traumas and illnesses in her life and I have accompanied her on her journey for a few years now. Below, the unedited version of how she sees an orthobionomy treatment.

Trust
Openness
Empathy
Respect
Integrity
Absence of Ego

Safe space
Welcoming space
Peaceful energy
Calm energy
A sense of "All is well here"

* Healing ambience - but no motive/agenda
* A space to (be allowed to) be who you really are - to reconnect
* A place to accept "healing" at whatever level, to let go and allow "stuff" to dissipate and be dealt with elsewhere, for it to be absorbed by another energy
* A place where it's ok to be vulnerable
* A place where you don't need to question and where acceptance of what comes is possible
* No need for you to DO anything - just allow/be open to what will/might happen

All held together and facilitated by the one who has created, with care, that space and enabled this to come about.

Somebody enjoying a BIG release after a treatment!

Recently, the owner of a horse filmed me as I demonstrated a treatment of the sacroiliac (SI) joints and the lumbosacral joint of an ex-racehorse. Text on the video describes briefly how the treatments are done as well as some of the reactions to watch out for in the horse.

The treatment of the SI and LS joints forms a part of the treatment of the whole pelvic girdle, including any rotation of the ileum and any misalignment of the p***c bones and the sacrum.

Orthobionomy is an extremely effective yet gentle way of working with a horse to help release stress and tension and hence relieve pain.

A couple of weeks ago I went on an advanced Ortho-Bionomy course in Germany where we were learning to work together with the universal energy enabling us to work hands-off, or over a distance. I had completed this course 7 years previously, but it's always good to repeat, share experiences and learn some more.

This morning I've had a wonderful experience with a horse I have treated before. A show jumper, he had taken a big tumble when with his previous owner a few years ago and was still suffering the long-term consequences. He is nervous of being treated (having threatened to double-barrow the physio) and distracts himself from his discomfort and the therapist by burying his nose in his hay pile. Normally, I would remove the hay so encouraging the horse to focus on my work, but somehow this didn't feel right with this one.

This was the fourth time I had seen him and I'd had success treating him before using the gentle dynamic phase 5 techniques of Ortho-Bionomy. This time, after just a few minutes, I found myself thinking of his trauma, a connection between us had been made. I set up the phase 7 cine-time zone in my head and he immediately backed away from the physical contact of my hands and stood quietly at the back of the stable where we continued working together with me standing at a distance. I felt his body responding: his poll, his lower jaw, the tentorium cerebellum, his thorax, his pelvic area. After a while I energetically stepped away thus allowing him space to continue processing...which he did. This is when I managed to capture the first two photos below.

There was a magic in this experience. A wonder in being invited to work together with this gorgeous animal with the universal energy encompassing us both. An intuitional peace when watching him process this energetic work within his own body. Refreshed and seemingly amazed at the increased flexibility of his poll, he repeatedly took up that beautiful pose as he returned to his hay, which is when I took the last photo. 😍

For the therapists amongst you! In the video below a brief demonstration of two techniques that I use to work with the iliopsoas muscle.

The contraction of the iliopsoas muscle is indicated in pelvic misalignments as well as stressed-up people. The psoas muscle is a large muscle that runs from the lower spine through the pelvic girdle, picking up the iliacus on the way. Now called the iliopsoas muscle it attaches to the inner side of the top of the femur and is the strongest flexor of the hip.

The structural technique shown here forms a part of the BodyHelp scheme for treating lower back pain.
