A few weeks ago, Bridge House hosted it annual Summer Party.
Prior to the party, those who live with us helped pre-make some of the decorations by scrunching, stringing and sticking. We even had some little helpers on the day, planting some garden flowers and blowing up some balloons. The outdoor canopies were decorated with the balloons, hanging decs and lots of bunting.
We were hit by the dreaded 'Bridge Summer Party Rainfall' again this year - however we didn't let this stop us. Those who live with us and their families put on their coats and still chose to sit outside, enjoying their delicious picnic-style lunch crafted by head chef Pauline, alongside a glass of Pimms, a mocktail of mint, apple juice and lemonade, or juice.
This year, we had the lovely Daniel Brewerton join us for an outside performance. He sung us some classic golden oldies which those who live with us never fail to sing, and dance along to. Once the rain had stopped, some of us jumped up and had a dance - even some salsa moves were thrown in! To finish the day, we had a tombola where those who live with us made donations to Macmillan in exchange for a row of tickets. If their number was drawn, they got to choose from a selection of generously donated items from families, such as wine, gin, chocolate, hats, and scarves.
We had bubble guns/wands, and inflatable guitars and microphones that were played or sung into along with Daniel. Those who live with us, and some of us staff, were adorned with face glitter to add that extra bit of sparkle and festival vibes.
