🌱 🌸 With spring comes a sense of renewed energy and an almost irresistible urge to make everything fresh and clean - both outside and in our homes. To add a boost to your natural cleaning products, you can include citrus essential oils like Lemon or Wild Orange to give your home a refresh. Thyme and Basil are other excellent options for cleaning surfaces safely. An added benefit of Thyme is that diffusing it purifies the air. Other oils that purify the air in your home include Wild Orange, Arborvitae, and Juniper Berry.

And how about that all-purpose homemade cleaner, which could help you out this spring? Here’s an easy citrus option:

👉 1 cup white vinegar
👉 2 cups water (regular tap water or distilled)
👉 30 drops lemon essential oil

Mix one cup of white vinegar with two cups of water in a spray bottle. Add about 30 drops of lemon essential oil and shake the bottle to combine the ingredients – that’s it! You can spray it on countertops, tabletops, floors, cupboards and glass.

☝️ CAUTION: Do NOT spray on marble – vinegar and marble do not get along so well! 😟

Scalp buildup is caused by the accumulation of too many substances on the scalp. It can easily be confused with dandruff because both conditions share some of the same symptoms. However, these conditions are different and require different treatment methods.

👉 Here’s where come to the rescue! One of the best ways to use essential oils is to help your hair and scalp stay clean and healthy. Use this apple cider vinegar rinse to help restore and balance the natural pH level of your hair, and get rid of extra build-up without stripping your hair of its natural oils.

Combined with Rosemary, Lemon, and Grapefruit essential oils, the following mixture cleanses and refreshes hair, making it soft, shiny, and easy to work with.

INGREDIENTS:
🌿 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
🌿 8 tablespoons water
🌿 8 drops Rosemary oil
🌿 6 drops Lemon oil
🌿 4 drops Grapefruit oil

INSTRUCTIONS:
1️⃣. Combine all ingredients in a small glass bowl and stir.
2️⃣. Comb through dry hair. The acids in the mixture remove any oil, dirt or sulphate buildup naturally.
3️⃣. Allow the mixture to sit in place for about 20 minutes, then rinse hair in the shower and continue with your normal shampoo and conditioner routine. Enjoy your thoroughly cleansed and rejuvenated locks.

💧 Essential oils are lovely when diffused into the air, leaving you with a pleasant scent to breathe in. When combined with your favourite moisturiser, your skin is left silky smooth; but one use you may not have thought of is the use of soothing minor issues - like bruises. The next time you bump your shin against the coffee table, try using one of these oils to eliminate the bruise more quickly:

🌿 Myrrh
🌿 Helichrysum
🌿 Frankincense

Bruising is caused by blood pooling in the area of impact. The pooling is what creates that unsightly purple-blue look. When caring for a bruise, you first need to reduce blood flow to the area. Keep that part of the body elevated, wrap ice in a cloth, and apply it to the spot that was hit or bumped. This helps keep blood from pooling in the bruised tissue, and therefore reduces discolouration.

💆 Lightly massaging the area can also keep blood from pooling, minimising the bruising. Essential oils are a great addition to any massage. In addition to providing a pleasant scent, some are particularly soothing to the skin and provide other helpful benefits.

Once the area has been iced, combine one to two drops of either Helichrysum or Myrrh oil to enough Fractionated Coconut Oil to cover the bruised area. Depending on the severity of the bruise, you may consider applying heat to the area after 24 hours of icing. You can use an electric heating pad, rice bag, or heated water bottle. Apply heat to the area 20 minutes at a time throughout the day until the bruise has healed. 🙌

I've always suffered from motion sickness. Anytime we drive somewhere, I have to look straight to the road, or I'm in trouble. 😟

So here are some essential oils that are known to help and worked for me:
🌿 Ginger
🌿 Peppermint
🌿 Spearmint
🌿 Lavender

You can either make a roller, just add 10 drops of each to the 10 ml roller bottle (chose either peppermint or spearmint) and fill it up with the carrier oil of your choice. Roll over pressure points when in the car.

❕ OR

Make your own blend in the bottle using 7 drops of peppermint or Spearmint, 4 drops of Ginger and 4 drops of Lavender (double or triple the amount if needed) and inhale or diffuse in the car as needed.

We all miss being able to go to the SPA… I know… I like to have these essential oil-infused tablets in my shower ALL THE TIME. They add a luxurious aromatic experience (which makes me feel like I am somewhere else!) and are easy to make.

You can use any of your favourite topical essential oils, but my favourite for this DIY is the doTERRA Balance grounding blend. 😊

INGREDIENTS:
✔️ 1½ cups baking soda
✔️ 15-20 drops of topical essential oil of your choice
✔️ ½ cup water

INSTRUCTIONS:
1️⃣ Combine together water and baking soda. Mix well.
2️⃣ Add essential oils, depending on how strong do you like the smell. Mix it all up.
3️⃣ Use a spoon and tightly pack the mixture into small silicone moulds. Let to dry overnight.
4️⃣ To use, place one or two tablets in the back of your shower.
5️⃣ Allow them to dissolve gradually and release the calming aroma of essential oils.

💡 TIP: for best results, use a spot that’s away from the direct flow of the shower.

(LT KOMENTARUOSE) Topical application is another great way to use essential oils. As always, there are some important things you need to know before you start. Make sure you save this post to have the information when you need it.

❗ REMEMBER, dilution does not make an essential oil less effective, it actually increases the absorption by 6 % !

🌿 Not all brands are safe to apply topically. Check with the manufacturer.
🌿 Check if the oil needs to be diluted with a carrier oil.
🌿 Apply where you need them for their localised effect (in next posts we will cover topical application for each body group in more detail).
🌿 When trying a new oil, always perform a patch test. Mix one drop of oil with 5-10 drops of carrier oil and apply to a patch of skin on your forearms. Observe for one hour for any reaction (if there is any you are most likely to see it within 10 minutes).
🌿 Avoid the sun for 12 hours after using citrus oils.
🌿 Always avoid sensitive areas such as ears, nose or eyes.

💡 USEFUL: all dōTERRA oils and blends are classified into three categories: neat, dilute or sensitive.

➡️ Neat – no dilution is necessary
➡️ Dilute – oil always should be diluted for everyone
➡️ Sensitive – should be diluted for sensitive groups including young, sensitive or older skin

(LT APAČIOJE) The bathroom... 🚽 It can be a not so great smelling place, but fear not! We have a great hack for you, which will help you make sure that the bathroom smells lovely! 😊

A super easy trick is adding a couple of drops of essential oils to your toilet paper rolls to “diffuse” into the air before, during, and after use (❗ make sure to put the oil on the cardboard and not the actual paper as some oils can irritate your skin). 🧻 It cuts odours and leaves a fresh scent. We ❤️lemon, orange and lavender essential oil!

(LT KOMENTARUOSE) Happy , everyone! 👻 Are you thinking about what you could do with those leftover pumpkins after festivities are over? How about a HEALTHY PUMPKIN PIE RECIPE with a great balance of spice flavours provided by some drops of Cinnamon, Clove and Ginger essential oils. 😱

INGREDIENTS:
🎃 500ml of pumpkin puree*
🎃 400ml full-fat coconut milk
🎃 25g rolled oats
🎃 2 tbsp ground flax
🎃 115g brown sugar
🎃 3 tsp ground cinnamon
🎃 1 💧 Cinnamon E. Oil
🎃 2 💧 Clove E. Oil
🎃 2 💧 Ginger E. Oil
🎃 ½ tsp salt
🎃 1 egg
🎃 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
🎃 1 par/pre baked pie crust. Pre-bake at 200ºC/180ºC fan for 8 minutes.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 200°C
2. Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Pour into a par-baked pie crust in a 10-inch round pan.
3. Bake for 27 minutes. Note: It will look underdone at this time, don’t worry. Refrigerate at least 2 hours uncovered. Pie will thicken and set.
4. Top with fresh whipped cream.

❗ TIPS:
*To make your own pumpkin puree:

INGREDIENTS
1 pumpkin & water

INSTRUCTIONS
Clean and chop pumpkin into one-inch size pieces, place in large pot, cover with water and bring to a boil, continue on a low boil until tender. Drain and place in a blender, blend until smooth.

For the individual who is new to shopping for EO, the cost difference between suppliers can be intimidating. In many cases, the new EO user may simply shop by picking a company they find who is cheapest. Beware of going in that direction…

❗ The cheapest oils do not always offer the same therapeutic value as those purchased from sellers that invest more care and cost into the distillation, storage and shipment of their oils.

(LT APAČIOJE)This delicious treat has all the autumn flavours for you to fall in love with while supporting your immune system at the same time!

INGREDIENTS:

🍂 1 cup of almond milk (or any other you like)
🍂 ½ cup pumpkin puree
🍂 ½ cup natural yoghurt
🍂 2 bananas
🍂 1 tsp. vanilla extract
🍂 1 tsp.pumpkin pie spice 🎃
🍂 2-3 💧 doTERRA On Guard

Blend everything in the blender until smooth, add some whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon. Trust me, you will make some more of those!

Natural roll-on perfume oil really starts to become a thing now. If you make it at home you can play with the essential oils you like to create something new. It all adds up to a low cost and has the most basic ingredients, perfect for people who have allergies for fragrances! 🌿

Just add the oils to a 10 ml roller bottle and fill the rest with a carrier oil. The one I always go for is fractionated coconut oil as it’s odourless and has an extremely long shelf life. 🌿

Perfect to carry on with you in a little bag or your pocket! 👛
