Yesterday, one of the Vera James residents spent a very special birthday with her family and friends. Celebrating 100 years with a lovely cake, a card from the king, photos through the years, and a beautiful handmade crochet timeline of all her poignant moments over the 100 years, made by her lovely daughter to remind her mum of those special times in her life. On a cold and rainy day, staff offered Chloe a choice of indoor activities: bracelet making or stamp printing. She chose the stamps and was given a paper pad to work with. Chloe independently created her own stamped artwork, giggling throughout and clearly enjoying herself. After about fifteen minutes, she pushed the stamp box away to show she was finished and looked pleased with her picture.

Even on a stay-at-home day, Chloe remained engaged, creative and happy. 🎨🧑‍🎨

Today our residents took part in a quiz with a new member of staff. Nikki is our new Activity Co-ordinator and has lots planned. Nikki is in fact part of a double act - with her gorgeous dog taking part in things too! In the afternoon we played beach ball volley ball - there was a slight disaster when the ball got punctured by a rather excited and over enthusiastic little helper! Oh Shelby, it's a good job you are too cute (and we have more balls in stock).

Hattie from Vincent Place had a wonderful first day volunteering at a local farm, supported by staff and her family throughout. She eagerly got involved, following instructions to prepare radishes for the farm shop, and enjoyed learning new skills while contributing to the daily tasks. Hattie was in high spirits the whole day, showing enthusiasm and pride in her work, and left feeling happy and accomplished. 😁🌹

Today the residents enjoyed a quiz morning with our Sofie. The residents took part in a word-search and a crossword. Then we had a lovely fish and chip dinner from a local fish and chip shop.

After lunch some of our residents took part in the most competitive scrabble game ever! The winner will be announced next week!

An amazing singer called Bethan called in to see us in the afternoon too - residents were encouraged to sing along - we had a lovely time and I'm pleased to say that Bethan will be coming back to Vera James very soon (she left with a list of requests for next time!). It's been a very busy day .......

Yesterday our Wincey took our residents on a nostalgic music journey .... we sang some lovely old tunes and the residents chose instruments to join in. It was a really engaging and fun experience for the residents and staff alike - and of course our lovely hairdresser Lisa got involved too!
