Did you know .. interesting facts about Boxing Day ✨

Despite the name, Boxing Day has nothing to do with boxing 🥊

Traditionally, Boxing Day began as a day of charity and giving.

In medieval England, churches opened alms boxes after Christmas and distributed money to the poor.

Wealthy households also gave their servants and tradespeople a “Christmas box” ; gifts or money as a thank you for their work throughout the year.

Boxing Day is also the Feast of St Stephen, a Christian martyr closely associated with helping those in need, which further tied the day to generosity.

Today , Boxing Day is a public holiday and evolved into what many of us know today… family time, sport, and shopping sales — but its roots are all about kindness and giving back ❤️

It’s the most wonderful time of the year …🎄

Today is all about family , feeling the love & laughter of family ✨💕✨

Does that mean you have to have to have lots of gifts waiting ?

A picture perfect house with all the trimmings?

My house will never be perfect… it’s a house of chaos with lots of clutter and a basket of overflowing washing ! (Yes I thrive for perfection one day)

But today , my heart is full , my fridge is full, & everyone will get a gift 🎁 but more importantly ..

I’m present & my family are present and today is about making memories and being together !

Morning,

I can’t tell you the excitement of a shooting star .. ⭐️

After a really challenging day , I was on my way home from a dog walk; pondering over everything that life throws at you and really how grateful I am ✨

I look up and I not just glimpse, I saw the star start to finish shooting and fading into the sky ✨

The excitement was unreal : as to me this was a sign of hope and renewal and that I would be ok 💕

It was the first thing that entered my mind when I woke and realised just how lucky I was as two people beside didn’t see it ✨
