M.I.N - Men's Fire Circle

We will be getting together for our next Men’s Fire 🔥 Circle ⭕️ on 21st March.

This will be our last circle to welcome in the lighter half of the year (daylight savings). This is not to say that life feels lighter right now. Many of us are going through challenging periods.

The format is simple, we light a fire, make some hot drinks and share whatever is going on for us, good or bad. There is no pressure to share.

We have a small community of men that attend regularly. If you are seeing this post in your community facebook group, one or two of them will be from your village/town.

We want to create a community that supports our local communities!

Last week, we got together to reflect on the last 14 months of running the Men’s Circle. Our conversation covered:

• what’s gone well
• what could have gone better
• who/where are the communities we serve (towns and villages)
• how we should reach out to those communities
• and finally, what we trying to achieve

The answer to the final question is the first line of this post. So, in 2024 we will be coming out into those communities and offering our time and skills to support local initiatives or projects.

🎄 A Warm Reminder This Festive Season 🌟

As the holiday lights twinkle and the festive songs play, it’s important to remember that Christmas isn’t always a season of joy for everyone. During this time, some of us might find ourselves struggling with loneliness, stress, or memories that make this period challenging.

We want to remind each of you that you’re not alone. Our men’s circle is more than just a group; it’s a community of support and understanding. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your feelings are valid, and sharing them can be the first step towards feeling better.

Remember, it’s okay to not be okay, even during the holidays. Let’s look out for each other and ensure no one has to go through tough times in silence. We’re here for each other, today and every day.

This week feels like winter truly has arrived with the frost. The trees have lost their leaves, the grass has stopped growing and the days are nearing the shortest of the year.

Nature tells us that it is time to slow down, to reflect on the lessons of the warmer months, to rest and regenerate. Yet this is far from where many of us will be at this time.

A place of rest and introspection may feel like a dream with the pressures of work, family and the beginning of festive season. Whatever we may feel about this time of year, it is important to take some time for ourselves and slow down.

Follow the flow of nature and take some time to rest, to sit with ourselves, our loved ones in spaces of care, connection and play.

Find some time for yourself this December! Many of our best ideas and decisions come when we slow down.

Most of us spend our days on a mission to complete the next task, to fulfill our many responsibilities, putting our loved ones needs before ours trying not to disappoint anyone.

These patterns and behaviors stop us from fully experiencing life in the present moment because the place we think we can rest and do something nourishing for ourselves is always beyond the horizon of the next task or mission.

Conversely being in this state of constant overwhelm makes us collapse and overly indulge in soothing behaviors that are not always good for us. We all have these.

When we sit around the fire on Thursday evening, we will find resonance in hearing the many ways in which these behaviors present themselves in our lives.

We have no aim other than to pause and connect for a couple of hours, drop the mission, take off the armour, to let the responsibilities wait for one evening and just talk which hopefully gives us sense of where we truly are.

If you are familiar with some of the behaviors above or just want to spend time in nature around the fire, come join us on Thursday evening or in our November fire circle!

This Saturday was the Autumn Equinox - Day and night are in balance, a signal that we are heading into the darker half of the year, into winter, a time of rest and restoration.

In October we are celebrating our 12th M.I.N - Men's Fire Circle. A full year of gathering around the fire and connecting with other like minded people sharing our successes, challenges and trying out various activities.

Many of the hopes we witnessed each other speak around the fire during the restful winter months have come true. Some are still being worked on and others have fallen away.

We look forward to what the next 12 month have in store!
