Often when people experience anxiety, their breathing becomes shallow, rapid, and erratic. Since the brain is the most metabolically active organ in your body, any state that lowers oxygen will trigger more fear and panic.

By taking slow, deep breaths you’ll boost oxygen to your brain and start to regain control over how you feel.

One way to practice deep breathing is by learning how to breathe from your diaphragm—the area of the body that tends to get “clenched” when we’re anxious.

While taking long deep breathes, the most important thing to remember is do not leave, run away or ignore whatever is causing the panic unless its dangerous. If you leave … the panic will now control you.

You must face the fear or concern directly or it will always have control over you increase anxiety and panic attacks.

We tend to be our own worst critic. It’s easier to say harsh things to yourself than to hear it from others.

How often do you take a moment to check in with your emotions? 🤔 Tuning inwards and honoring what you need can make a big difference. Close your eyes, place your hand on your chest or belly, and take a few deep breaths. Ask yourself - what emotion is present right now? What does this emotion need? It could be as simple as a nap, some time in nature, a warm bath, or reaching out to a friend. Whatever it is, try to honor that need with self-compassion. You are not alone in navigating your emotions. We all struggle sometimes. The key is learning healthy, loving ways to manage them. Don't be afraid to ask for support when you need it.Your emotions matter. Take the time to check in and care for yourself. 💗
