Tonight I light the candles for the first time.
There’s a particular feeling that comes with setting up a Salt Circle ~ the water warming, the salt waiting, my kitchen quietly becoming something other than a room.

I’ve been telling folk tales on my retreats in Anglesey for a while now ~ stories that belong to coastal landscapes, read aloud by candlelight to small groups of women before bed. Something always settles in those evenings that I’ve stopped trying to name.
Tonight I bring that world home.
To the Fens. For the first time.

I won’t pretend I’m not a little nervous. New things deserve that.

Barefoot at dawn, the sea and sky...I cannot put into words what this adventure has become, and feel so lucky to be back here next week: Anglesey reminds me there is vastness in the world - and in ourselves.

Three times a year, I bring a small group of six women to this wild, liminal coastline. Together, we immerse ourselves.

It’s quiet. It's hilarious. We belly laugh, we share secrets. And mostly we remember WHO we are.

This is the space where I listen.

Not just to words - but to breath, to your energy, to pauses, to what the body has been holding quietly for too long.

Within these walls, nothing is rushed. There is no performance here. No expectation to be the strong one. Just warmth, steady presence, and skilled, intentional touch.

Reflexology is often spoken about in terms of technique. But at its heart, it is about relationship - between body and mind, between tension and release, between holding on and letting go.

I liken it to playing an instrument...

And when a woman lies down in this space, she does not have to carry everything.

The nervous system softens. The breath deepens. The body remembers how to feel safe.

This room is simple. Quiet. Grounded.

And sometimes, that is exactly what strength needs.

This hand holds a lot.

It works. It steadies. It reassures. It supports others when they are tired, overwhelmed or unsure.

But it is also part of something quieter.

The same hand that offers care is made of the same elements as the earth beneath it. The same rhythm that moves through the trees moves through our nervous systems too - a constant reaching for balance, for regulation, for homeostasis.

Nature does not rush its restoration. It softens slowly. It recalibrates in its own time.

We are no different.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause. Feel the ground. Breathe. Allow the body to remember that it belongs to something steady and safe.

Healing is not force.
It is remembering.

Our nervous systems aren’t designed to regulate in isolation - they’re designed to respond to safe, supportive touch.

This is one of the reasons reflexology can feel so deeply calming.

It isn’t “just” a treatment for the feet. It’s a quiet conversation with the nervous system. Through steady, therapeutic touch, the body begins to recognise safety. Breathing slows. Muscles soften. The system regulates.

Strong women are very good at coping.

It comes from softening.
