Earlier this week I shared how coming back into sessions helps me feel more regulated and back in rhythm.

What I’ve also noticed over the last few days is that it doesn’t mean everything suddenly feels easy.

I’ve still had moments of feeling tired and a bit out of sync in my body. I’m very aware of how much things like food, rest and routine really affect me.

The difference now is that I notice it sooner and I can reset back to what serves me.

I’m also much kinder to myself. There was a time when I internally berated myself, thinking that would help… it didn’t.

Now I come back to what I know works.
I don’t spiral in the same way.
I’ve become my own cheerleader and that’s been a game changer.

It’s not about getting everything “perfect.”
It’s about having a way to return to yourself even when things feel off.
And over time that makes all the difference 😊

I always notice how much I enjoy coming back into sessions after a break. Especially after Easter or Christmas that usually involve changes to my diet and exercise too.

There’s something really regulating about being back in my clinic space again. Working this morning it felt calm and grounding.

It also seems to bring me back into a rhythm which my body really appreciates.

It’s interesting how much those small shifts make a difference to my wellbeing and perspective.

“How do the needles feel?”

This is one of the most common questions I get and one of the hardest to answer.

Because it’s not like injections or tattoos and these are usually the only comparisons people have.

In acupuncture the needles are gently tapped through a guide tube that rests on the skin.

For many people that light pressure is all they feel.
Occasionally there’s a brief sting but that’s not the typical experience.

Once the needle is in the sensation usually settles quickly.
If anything feels sharp I adjust it.

So what does it actually feel like?
• A gentle tingling
• A sense of heaviness
• “I can’t feel them at all!”
• A dull, satisfying ache (like releasing a tight muscle)
• Lightness
• Even a floating sensation

Many new clients come in feeling nervous and leave surprised at how relaxed they feel often saying, “that was actually okay” after the very first needle.

If needles still feel like a barrier I also offer acupressure as an alternative 😊

Curious but unsure? Feel free to message me with any questions.

I have just shared a very personal piece about my experience of living with chronic pain in my early thirties.

At the time I could barely walk or drive and was working between lying down on the floor.

What followed was not a straight forward recovery but an unexpected journey through small steps, setbacks and learning to trust my body again.

It changed not only how I moved but how I understand pain and healing.

If you are navigating pain or feeling limited by your body this might resonate.

As always take what resonates and leave the rest 💛

This is what I do to build strength…..In my earlier post I said I was going back to arial arts and here I am about 10 weeks on.

I must admit to start with I ached most of the time but it’s been worth it to start to get back to the point where some things look easy.

Why I do arial arts.

I’m with people stronger, fitter and often younger than me which triggers my body to try and mirror them.

It challenges me to address my weight gain.
I’m effectively carrying a backpack of an extra 30lb compared to my peers.

It’s so much fun.
I forget I’m working hard because I’m so focused on the shapes or just not falling out.😬😂

It strengthens the smaller muscles that don’t wake up with repetitive moves. Because my body is having to balance it is constantly adjusting. This is in part how I completely recovered from a slipped disc 25yrs ago.

We’re all in it together. 🙌
Unlike other classes we cheer each other on, celebrate our progress regardless of ability or body shape. We know that this not only takes skill but courage and focus.

Thank you The Pole Shed 🥰

I went back to the beginning….
Although I already have a black belt in Wing Chun my new local class is a different style so I chose to go back to basics.

Every time I do this somewhere in my life I deepen my knowledge and have greater respect for the basics that create good strong foundations to grow from.

So I’m a green belt now and loving being at the back of the class. 🥋🤜💕

Wow 😄 4 days and over 50hrs of content later I am so inspired and impressed by Tony Robbins and his team of experts.

Never before have I had to go change into a sports bra and joggers for a seminar because of all of the jumping!! Or apologise to the kids for waking them with a woohoo at the top of my voice. 😂

He knows all the tips to help you learn and one of them is dance breaks. It was like being at a gig in your home.

I've danced, laughed, cried and been humbled time and again by peoples stories and walked away energised and inspired despite the lack of sleep.

My other take away was that with 50000 people from 125 countries at this workshop, what I do has become more mainstream than I had appreciated. It was so great to meet so many people who are striving for more not only for themselves but also for their wider communities and loved ones.

Oh yes I did it, twice!! Another thing ticked off my bucket list. 😀I’ve got the bug now 🤜🗯️🎉

Despite being a martial artist for many years I’ve never done any breaking.

But now I find myself with a piece of wood about to find out what I’m made of.

At the Tony Robbins in person events he does fire walking (already done that ✔️)
but for his virtual ones he sends you a board to break.

I’m so excited to be taking part in the Unleash The Power Within virtual event.

I'm back from another stunning trip to Canada. I have the privilege of being a mentor at a retreat in Banff and I never fail to up level my skills during these events.

This time I was able to embody a new level of sovereignty which meant I was able to support and be involved in the transformation of others while keeping my energy even more steady.

This means that despite travelling all those miles, time zone changes and working long hours. I have come back ready to serve with a smile on my face.

My latest Google review ❤️
"Julie provides a complete unique and holistic approach to treatment. It’s difficult to describe what she does but she connects with every part of you. Julie is wise, she has an incredibly broad knowledge of different practices and this is mixed with an amazing empathy which helps you learn who you are and what you need. I can’t recommend her highly enough." Charlotte

Ely Cathedral put on a beautiful space themed light display. It was the perfect environment to remember how small, vulnerable and privileged we are in this immense universe. I love to experience this perspective from time to time it always leads me to feel gratitude and puts any worries in perspective.💕
