This is what a steady 9 years of research looks like, hundreds of pages of notes and evidence to win yet another case and life-changing sums of money for clients. Patience and determination wins out. 🔍

Proud of this job particularly as I know at least two of the biggest firms in the country attempted this case and failed to either crack the genealogy or provide enough evidence to prove entitlement.

Irish research never easy but always interesting.

also… Timeline Property and Asset Management (for properties in probate or Guardianship).

First property to clear in 2022, a massive job, slow but sure. Excellent job yesterday by the gardening team clearing years of overgrowth so I can get to the sheds for assessment.

This is an important job as the lady is in care so liquidating assets to the maximum is a priority.

It’s funny how worlds collide!!

I started assisting local Solicitors with probate issues, such as identifying and locating potential beneficiaries in intestate cases, and this led to other things....calling on my former 25 year career as an antique dealer and house clearance business.

I now assist with estate property and asset management. On behalf of Executors or next of kin, TGS can take care of deceased persons property and assets to the best financial advantage and ease of process for those involved.

Services include:

* First attendance at property to identify legal and
financial documents and remove vulnerable high
value items eg jewellery, cash and objet d’art.

* Arrange lock changes if necessary.

* Create an itemised Inventory with valuation for
Probate purposes if required.

* Manage the sale of goods and/or most cost
effective clearance of the property to the best
advantage of the estate.

* Arrange central heating drain downs if required,
and meter readings.

* Undertake weekly/monthly security checks for
insurance purposes if required.

* Organise gardening maintenance and property
deep-cleans ahead of property sales.

It is always my intention that, through best management, there is a profit, saving, or break even position reached whilst meeting the costs of my service, and that this difficult process in life is made easier for those left behind.

Having a bit of a busman’s holiday from the Probate Research this week.

Combining my former career as an antique dealer, I’m doing the genealogy research with a view to reuniting these old documents with their living descendants; hope they play ball and want to purchase them and their family tree. Fun!

This is a common scam to do with inheritance,(below), others take many forms.

If a genuine Probate Research company is undertaking cold case work and contacts you, they will never ask you for money up front; the industry works on commission basis.

You would never be asked for bank details or personal details at the outset, only after being contractually engaged and a detailed process.

Genuine companies will usually give you detailed information about your family history showing actual research has taken place. Most will have a good website and accountable contact details etc, and are likely to be a member of a trade organisation, such as The Federation of Probate & Asset Researchers, who will varify membership.

If a genuine company approaches you either in relation to a cold case (unknown beneficiaries situation) or on behalf of a Solicitor or Executor, you could be in for a nice windfall and free Family Tree.... but be aware of scams.
