🌙 Sleep Hygiene – A Mental Health Nurse’s Perspective 🌙
As a mental health nurse, one of the most common things I see — across anxiety, low mood, burnout, psychosis and crisis, is poor or disrupted sleep. Sleep is not a luxury; it’s a foundation of mental and emotional wellbeing.
When sleep is out of balance, our ability to cope, regulate emotions, and manage stress is significantly reduced.
🌿 Gentle sleep hygiene tips I often share: ✨
Keep a consistent sleep and wake time where possible
✨ Reduce screen time at least an hour before bed
✨ Create a calm, safe bedtime routine (dim lights, quiet music, breathing)
✨ Avoid caffeine late in the day
✨ Make your sleep space a place of rest, not stimulation
Good sleep hygiene helps regulate the nervous system and can reduce anxiety, irritability, and emotional overwhelm.
At Secret Sanctum Holistic Healing, I support clients who are struggling with sleep through gentle, holistic approaches that help the body feel safe enough to rest. Healing isn’t just about coping, it’s about restoring balance.
🌙 If your sleep has been affected by stress, trauma, or emotional exhaustion, support is available.
