💜February is RP Awareness Month 💜
Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) is a rare inherited eye condition that affects the retina — the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. It usually develops gradually, often starting with difficulty seeing in low light or at night, followed by a reduction in peripheral (side) vision.
Around 1 in 4,000 people in the UK are affected by RP. While there is currently no cure, regular eye examinations are essential to monitor eye health, manage symptoms, and ensure people receive the right advice, support, and referrals when needed.
This RP Awareness Month, we’re helping to raise awareness of inherited retinal conditions and reminding everyone that eye tests are about much more than just updating a prescription — they play a vital role in long-term eye health.
If you’ve noticed changes in your vision or have a family history of eye conditions, our team is always here to offer guidance and support. 👁️💜
