Nagging back pain and unsure if you need a scan?

It’s a common question I hear almost daily.

In many cases, scans aren’t the first step — especially if symptoms are stable and there’s no significant trauma or red flags.

They can be useful in certain situations, but they don’t always change the way a problem is managed.

A thorough assessment often provides more value early on — helping to understand what’s driving the pain and how to manage it effectively.

This is something I hear a lot. 🗣️

Sometimes it’s the body limiting movement to protect a joint that doesn’t feel strong, stable, or prepared for load.

Building strength, control, and load tolerance is usually the missing piece

If you play golf, rotation is everything.

But when the hips and upper back don’t move well, the lower back often ends up doing the extra work.

That’s when stiffness after a round can start turning into pain.

These are 3 mobility drills I prioritise with golfers to help improve rotation and reduce unnecessary stress on the spine.

⛳ Thoracic rotation – thread the needle- x10 each side
⛳ Supine glute stretch – hip mobility- x3 each side holding for 10-20s
⛳ hip flexor stretch- x3 each side, holding for 10-20-s

If you’re struggling with stiffness, recurring ni**les, or feel like your body is limiting your swing, it’s worth addressing it properly.

Capacity isn’t built overnight — it’s developed through progressive, controlled exposure to load.

Train your engine. Build the chassis too.

The number one mistake I see runners make 👇

Resting because of injury…
then returning at the same intensity.

Pain settling doesn’t mean your body is ready for the demands of running again.

Rest reduces symptoms — it doesn’t rebuild load tolerance.

That’s why so many runners end up stuck in the same injury cycle.

Smart rehab isn’t about stopping completely.
It’s about rebuilding gradually and and deliberately
