Why my programmes don’t look like “typical” fitness plans 👇

I don’t train women over 40 like smaller versions of men.
And I definitely don’t train them like they’re broken.

Every programme I create considers:
• Menopause & hormonal changes
• Pelvic floor and core function
• Past injuries, scars, and pain history
• Stress, sleep, and recovery
• Real life (because you’re not training for the Olympics)

That means:

💧 Leaking when you sneeze is common… but it’s not normal.

If you cross your legs, brace your jaw, or pray to the pelvic floor gods every time you cough — this one’s for you.

Here’s the thing:
✔️ Bladder leaks are common
❌ They are not something you just have to live with

Leaks often come from:
Poor pressure management
Over-clenching (yep, too tight is a thing)
Weak or poorly coordinated pelvic floor muscles
Training that doesn’t match what your body actually needs right now

And no… the answer is not “just do kegels and hope for the best”.

Your pelvic floor needs:
✨ Strength
✨ Relaxation
✨ Breath
✨ Support from the rest of your body

The GLP-1 drugs are a tool to help with weight loss but sadly as with many other tools like commercial diets, unless habits, lifestyle, nutrition and movement changes are also made the weight will come back after the drug is no longer used.

This is why last year I took a course to support clients who are on a GLP to support them to make long term changes so they don’t go back to square one or worse.

In a recent study by ukactive and Les Mills, also shows that shows 20 to 50 per cent of weight lost is lean body mass – posing significant health risks unless strength training and dietary changes are made.

🦴 Strong bones love strength (and a bit of impact)

Bone health isn’t just about calcium or waiting until there’s a problem.

Bones stay strong when we load them.
That means:
• strength training
• weight-bearing exercise
• impact (yes, some jumping when appropriate)
• progressively asking your body to do a little more

This is especially important in midlife and menopause, when bone density can change more quickly.

The goal isn’t smashing workouts or doing things that feel unsafe.
It’s the right type of loading, at the right level, for your body.

Strong muscles protect bones.
Confident movement reduces falls.
And starting now matters more than starting “perfectly”.

It’s part of your core.
It supports your bladder, bowel, posture, breathing, and movement.

Not every movement session needs to be sweaty, intense, or “worth it”.

Especially in January.

Restorative movement is still movement:
• walking
• gentle yoga
• stretching
• breathwork
• meditation
• cold water exposure
• slowing down on purpose

These things support your nervous system, hormones, recovery, sleep, and energy — all the stuff that makes everything else work better.

If your body feels tired, flat, overwhelmed, or a bit “no thank you” right now, that’s information — not laziness.

Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do is move gently and often.

Less pressure.
More consistency.
More listening.

Rest counts. Movement doesn’t always have to be loud.
