Many children with ADHD are not “bouncing off the walls.”

Some are:
quietly distracted
emotionally overwhelmed
constantly daydreaming
exhausted after school
struggling internally while appearing “fine” in class

ADHD can affect:
✔ attention
✔ emotional regulation
✔ organisation
✔ memory
✔ self-esteem
✔ friendships
✔ family life

Girls in particular are often missed because their difficulties can look different from the stereotypical picture many people expect.

Sometimes children work incredibly hard just to hold things together during the school day and home becomes the place where emotions spill out.

Understanding the “why” behind behaviours can be the first step toward support and change.

As we move towards the end of April, many families begin to notice a shift.

With exams approaching and the school year entering its final stretch, demands increase — on attention, organisation, emotional regulation, and energy.

For some young people, this period highlights strengths. For others, it can quietly bring existing difficulties into sharper focus.

If you’ve been wondering about attention, focus, or possible ADHD, this can sometimes be a time when patterns become more visible.

Our clinic offers comprehensive ADHD assessments for children and young people, with a focus on understanding the full picture — strengths, differences, and context.

If you’d like to explore whether an assessment might be helpful, feel free to get in touch.

🐣🌼 Happy Easter from Fermanagh ADHD Services! 🌼🐣

Easter can be a joyful time but for many children and families with ADHD, changes in routine, excitement, and sensory overload can feel a bit overwhelming.

This Easter, we’re celebrating the little wins:
✨ Taking a break when things feel too much
✨ Finding calm in the chaos
✨ Enjoying moments of connection as a family

Whether your day is full of chocolate eggs, outdoor adventures, or quiet time at home, there’s no “right” way to do Easter. What matters most is what works for you and your child.

💛 Be kind to yourself
💛 Keep expectations realistic
💛 Celebrate your child exactly as they are

Wishing all our families a calm, connected, and joy-filled Easter 🐰

We are absolutely delighted to share that we've been shortlisted as a finalist for 'Paediatric Service of the Year Award at this year's All Ireland Private Healthcare Awards!!

This recognition means so much to us as a small, rural dedicated ADHD service working cross border with children, young people and their families.
Our aim has always been to provide thoughtful, evidence based and compassionate support - and its an honour to see that work acknowledged.

A huge thank you to the families who trust us and to everyone who supports what we do 💛

ADHD in children isn’t just about being “hyper” or distracted! It often shows up in BIG emotions.

A small frustration can turn into tears. Losing a game can feel like the end of the world.
Transitions (like turning off a game or leaving the park) can trigger meltdowns.

It’s not bad behaviour - it’s a brain still learning how to regulate!
🧠 Kids with ADHD feel things quickly and intensely
🧠 The ‘pause’ button develops more slowly
🧠 They often need support ‘in the moment’, not punishment after

Instead of “Why are you acting like this?” Try “Something feels really big right now - I’m here with you”

Co-regulation before self regulation. Always 💛

On International Women’s Day we celebrate the women and girls whose ADHD stories were often misunderstood.

For years many girls were labelled as dramatic, disorganised, emotional or lazy — when in reality their brains were working differently.

As a female-led ADHD clinic, we are passionate about improving understanding of how ADHD presents in girls and young women, and supporting families to see strengths as well as challenges.

When girls understand their brains, everything can change.

Happy International Women’s Day 💜

At our clinic, every ADHD assessment is approached with care, depth, and attention to detail. We take the time to understand your child’s unique strengths, challenges, school experience, and emotional world — not just a checklist of symptoms.
Our process combines thorough medical evaluation with therapeutic insight, so families leave not only with answers, but with a clear, supportive plan forward.

Because no two children are the same — and their care shouldn’t be either.

If you’ve been wondering whether ADHD could be part of your child’s story, we’re here to help you explore that thoughtfully.

Parenting a child with ADHD can feel like…

🌀 answering 100 questions before breakfast
🧠 managing big emotions (theirs and yours)
⏰ running late even when you tried so hard not to

And still — you show up. Every day.

Your child isn’t “too much.”
They’re curious, creative, passionate, and wired differently — not wrongly.

What they need most isn’t perfection.
It’s understanding, patience, and someone who believes in them when things feel hard.

If today felt overwhelming, this is your reminder:
✨ You’re doing better than you think.
✨ Your child is learning in their own time.
✨ You’re not alone in this journey.

ADHD care works best when parents feel supported, informed, and empowered.
Save this for the days you need it 💛
