Welcome to Elvina's Osteopathic Clinic. I am on osteopath with over 10 years of experience in the field and enjoy my work. Since qualifying as an osteopath trained classically, I have undertaken many courses among which is Cranio-sacral Therapy. This is a nice gentle and relaxing treatment that can help to treat a variety of conditions like migraines or deep seated emotional issues. I myself like

to treat taking a full person approach by which I mean that I am looking where I can beyond just the pain you come in with but also to your lifestyle and the influences it has on your pain.

Over the years people have come in with various symptoms and sometimes it has turned out to be partially blood pressure related. Now there are also other factors like stress and when your blood pressure readings are taken that will make a difference to the readings.

Some things to do, take your reading around the same time. Make sure you have not just eaten or just exercised.
Take 3 readings one after the other some people say use an average others take the lowest reading. The average is recommended.

Monitor it for a week or 2 and then call your GP and you can give them this information and together you can decide on the best treatment plan for you. This may be medication or it may be changing lifestyle habits. Whatever you do though do not ignore the readings and symptoms.

Even if you are on medication remember factors around you can push up your blood pressure so check it every so often if you are getting persistent symptoms and check in with your GP

A great review, I am always grateful for the time out to write me a review. Over the years I love the fact that I have built up a good reputation and it just shows how small the world is that One person can get recommended to me by 3 separate people.

Thank you all for the referrals please keep them coming

There are many benefits to exercise and you dont need to create a massive sweat to get them. You do need consistance and to push your heart rate a little especially to get the cardiac benefits. However for some as they get older the thresholds that you need to push past become less with time and sometimes can lead to fear in doing exercise. If this is you why not see if your GP offers some exercise referral scheme or try some gentle movement to start.

I have put some red lines on the torso just so you can see how many connections there are just to the pectoralis or chest muscle. Now lets assume you injured your chest muscle initially the surrounding muscles go into protection mode i.e. possible spasm, but that does not mean that all of them will be affected by an injury especially when acute, initially that will pass. However is the problem becomes more chronic then you will start to feel the other muscles being affected, for example maybe a reduced range of movement in the arm or even the neck depending on how the initial injury was caused.

So to treat the problem all the surrounding structures need to be addressed and the opposite side also will need to be addressed as it will compensate for the pain.

This is interesting..🤔🧐

From birth, your tongue is actually connected to your toes through an intricate network of connective tissue known as fascia.

If your tongue is not resting correctly in your mouth due to mouth breathing, things can get out of alignment in your mouth and the rest of your body.
Tongue posture can lead to a foot imbalance and vice versa because the tongue guides all myofascial continuity structures that run from the inner arch of the foot up through the middle of the body to the tongue and jaw muscles.

When the tongue sits on top of the palate, it seals the oral cavity and holds the throat open like a tent. These muscles support the neck, keep your posture straight, help you breathe, and maintain your posture upright.
Your tongue also acts as a rudder and support system through a fascial line, and when the tongue is down, we breathe through our mouth, and the head falls forward due to lack of support, which leads to poor posture and increased energy expenditure.

Let me expand a little as to what I mean. For example I have a shoulder injury and over time I notice that specific ranges of movement are restricted in that arm like lifting my arm over my head, but ....... in order to make it look like I still have this range of movement I start to recruit other muscles to do the job so now I am using neck muscles to lift my arm over my head or I am contorting my body into a strange position to do the movement. I also start to notice other ranges of shoulder or arm movement are also affected.

So now I don't just have a shoulder problem but in fact and issue that is affecting my neck and upper back and over time left untreated the compensation pattern spreads though the whole body.

These compensation patterns take time to build and also to reverse so please get an injury treated as soon as you can to help avoid other problems.
