Osteopathy is an established, state regulated system of diagnosis and treatment which attends to the structural integrity of the body. It recognises that pain and disability are caused as much by poor function of body structure as damage from disease and trauma.
We currently offers both a full time Bachelor of Osteopathic Medicine (B.Ost) and Integrated Masters (M.Ost).

"The course is a basic introduction to dry needling with a Western Medical style philosophy rather than the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach. The taught material uses both traditional acupuncture points and Trigger points designed to compliment manual therapy practice for musculo-skeletal pain or dysfunction."

The 3 day Acupuncture/Dry Needling foundation course is available to qualified practitioners as CPD hours or for other groups providing they are already qualified in Sports therapy.

The course will run from Tuesday 9th to Thursday 11th April 2019, 9.30am to 5pm.

The cost will be £315 per person, with an easy payment plan for those needing to spread the cost. This would be £100 deposit then two or three installments to complete the payments in total by ‪July 31st 2019‬.

The deadline is ‪Friday 22nd March‬ and students need to have their booking confirmed with either full payment or £100 deposit by 12 noon that day.

Interested in training to be an Osteopath? We would like to take the opportunity to invite you to a Taster Day on Tuesday 11th December 2018 from 13.30pm until 15.30pm.

We also now have a Foundation in Therapeutics which is a part-time evening course starting in January 2019. This would give you the knowledge required for application to our BOst if you are from a non-scientific or medical background.

On our Taster Day you will be able to attend an Introduction to Professional Practice class, meet lecturers and speak to our current students. There will also be a tour of our brand new Teaching Clinic and a chance to meet our clinic staff.

Hopefully we will stay open, but should the college and clinic be closed we will contact you on our return to rearrange your appointment. If current conditions in your area will make travel to your appointment difficult then please contact us on 020 8394 3154 or osteopathy@nescot.ac.uk to postpone your appointment (no late cancellation charges apply this week), but please let us know as we can usually fill appointments.

Dry Needling and Medical Acupuncture: Treating Musculoskeletal Conditions.

This a foundation course is suitable for Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Remedial and Manual Therapists. It is a 3 day intensive CPD course on 10th/11th/12th April 2018 (9.30am to 5.30pm, lunch not provided). The cost is £360 for qualified practitioners or £285 for students*.

Each day consists of theory blended with ample time for demonstrations and practice. It is aimed at those trained in physical therapies such as Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic and Sports Therapy. It is a pre-requirement of the course to have a foundation training in one of these disciplines in order to have the minimal standard of knowledge of anatomy and physiology alongside an understanding of the standards required of your profession. General practitioners, doctors and nurses are also welcome.

*You will need to obtain insurance as a student for needling and then you can register the certificate with your relevant professional body to have this added to your professional insurance cover. This is not a traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture training which takes 3 years or more and it is important to not advertise or promote yourself as an acupuncturist. Your additional training is for dry needling and medical acupuncture, using some trigger points and traditional points for musculoskeletal therapeutic purposes only.

Nescot is a major college of Further and Higher Education situated close to Epsom in Surrey. Our Osteopathy Department (ICOM NESCOT) holds GOsC Recognised Qualification (RQ) status, and offers a number of professional and academic degrees validated by Kingston University. ICOM NESCOT is the only accredited UK provider of osteopathic education within a further education college and we have almost twenty years of experience in helping our learners to achieve their goals.

We invite applications for sessional lecturers on all aspects of our M.Ost, B.Ost, MSc and BSc programmes of Osteopathy, with particular emphasis on areas such as Osteopathic Technique, Research Skills, Biomechanics and Clinical Education.

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching on our current programmes from level 4 to level 7 and supporting students with their individual research projects.
Interested applicants must hold a Degree in osteopathy or relevant clinical or biomedical subject.

Closing date for applications is Wednesday 6 December 2017
Interviews will be held on Wednesday 13 December 2017
