Early Skin Cancer Detection

Early skin cancer detection saves lives — dermoscopy allows better visualisation of deeper structures, blood vessels and skin cancer diagnosis.

At Hinchley Medical, our experts use advanced dermoscopic assessment to identify skin cancers at the earliest, most treatable stages. Dermoscopy allows us to see beneath the skin’s surface, spotting subtle changes that the naked eye can easily miss.

If you have a changing mole, new lesion, sun-damaged skin, or simply require peace of mind, our thorough skin checks give you accurate, timely answers — with same-week appointments available.

- Expert dermoscopy
- Early detection of melanoma & non-melanoma skin cancers
- Clear explanations & personalised follow-up
- Private, calm clinical environment

If you have a lump on your wrist or hand, it could be that you have a ganglion cyst. Ganglion cysts are fluid filled lumps, often found near a joint or tendon, and are commonly found around the wrist and hand. Ultrasound can diagnose a ganglion cyst.

Ganglion cysts are harmless lumps and do not necessarily require treatment; some often shrink in size and resolve on their own in time.

However, some ganglion cysts can cause pain, interfere with joint movement and be unsightly if large. In these cases, ultrasound guided aspiration can be performed to drain the fluid from the ganglion cyst. A needle is first used to numb the area around the cyst followed aspiration of the fluid using a needle and syringe. Sometimes a steroid injection can also be given at the same time to help reduce inflammation and pain.

Repetitive stress injuries like tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), carpal tunnel syndrome and De Quervain's tenosynovitis are common in new parents due to the constant lifting and carrying of babies and young children.

If you suffer from any of these problems, a musculoskeletal soft tissue ultrasound can help in investigating the cause for your pain.

At Hinchley Medical, you will receive care from a highly experienced GP and ultrasound imaging by a skilled consultant radiologist. This means that you will not need to look elsewhere as your care will be under one roof.

The following are some examples of what we can help investigate with ultrasound:

- Abdominal ultrasound: liver cysts, gall stones, aortic aneurysm

- Kidney and bladder ultrasound: kidney cysts, kidney stones, hydronephrosis (obstruction)

- Hernia ultrasound: groin, abdominal wall and incisional hernias (post-surgery)

- Te**es ultrasound: lumps, infection/inflammation

- Lumps and bumps ultrasound

- Musculoskeletal ultrasound: arthritis, joint inflammation, tendinopathy, calcific tendinitis, tendon tear, frozen shoulder, ganglion and Baker’s cysts.

Depending on the underlying cause for a musculoskeletal problem, ultrasound guided treatment can be offered. This includes, for example, steroid and ostenil injections, ganglion cyst aspiration and shoulder hydrodilatation amongst others.

If you can see or feel a lump on your body, you should see a doctor for clinical examination. Ultrasound is then usually the first investigation of choice.

Ultrasound is a quick and painless test that can help determine what the lump is made of and its relationship to surrounding structures. Ultrasound can reliably diagnose several conditions, but sometimes further investigation is required.

The images above are of a lipoma. Lipomas are made up of fat tissue and in general are benign, harmless lumps that do not require any treatment unless they cause symptoms or cosmetic problems.

At Hinchley Medical we can offer you a lumps and bumps diagnostic package which includes both private GP and ultrasound assessment.
