I then completed my diploma in dermatology now focusing on the menopause specifically and women's health. I have been working in Surrey since 2005 as an NHS GP, joining Epsom Skin Clinic in 2012 and began to work in a Family Planning clinic with Dr Tina Peers in 2005. Throughout this time, I have been developing a special interest in the menopause, in particular how that relates to the skin proble
ms that women going through perimenopause/menopause experience. I provide a patient centred, holistic, evidence-based approach to the menopause. I am a member of the British Menopause Society
In my own personal life and in my work as an NHS GP I have met many, many women juggling so many aspects of their lives from children, family life, careers, education, elderly parents and much more that they do not have time for themselves as a result their own health and wellbeing is low down on their priority list. There is a huge variation of psychological and physical symptoms that woman may experience during the menopause and perimenopause. These symptoms can have a massive impact on their personal and professional lives. When providing treatment and advice for my menopause patients I incorporate the best evidence while individualising care for each woman. As well as discussing lifestyle factors, I challenge the negative myths that persist about HRT by giving accurate, up to date information about the risks and benefits of HRT and how it relieves symptoms, improves quality of life and has long term health benefits. My aim is to educate and support women going through the menopause, leading to the menopause being a positive experience.
