Is age just a number?…

I turned 73 this month — and honestly, I don’t feel “old.”
What I do feel is alive, curious, and still learning.

People love to tell us how we “should” act as we get older.

But the truth is, you’re never too old to try something new, to grow, or to surprise yourself.

What matters most is how you feel inside — more comfortable in your own skin, more at ease with who you are, and more open to what life still has to offer.

So whatever number you’re celebrating this year, remember: it doesn’t define you.

You’re never too old to start something new, share your gifts, or surprise yourself.

It’s not about the years we’ve lived, but how we live them — with joy, purpose, and a little bit of courage to keep saying yes to life. 💛

Smile, enjoy, have fun!

Yoga isn’t about competition or over extending your reach, it’s about understanding the intention behind the movement, listening to your body, noticing how you feel and choosing the move that feels right for you.

This awareness allows you to find more space in your practice to move with intention, and feel the effects - how you approach and deliver your movements in your own way.

Think of it as a progression of your self awareness, which is what makes yoga so vital and helpful both on and off the mat.

Try these four moves from three solid standing poses into a balancing pose to promote strength, improve proprioception and grow your body and mind awareness.

They are some of the most common, suitable for any level of ability - moving from a foundational stance in warrior II to a side-body stretch - reverse warrior, to a side-bending stretch and hamstring opener - triangle and finally, a balancing pose - half moon.

Save and try for later 🙏

I love that awareness of the rise and fall of your breath, like an ocean wave moving in and out - back and forth, highlighted by the sound as you take in your surroundings.

Listen, learn and love yourself🙏

The wonderful gift that practicing qigong gives us is the slow, intentional movements, that harmonise body and breath to activate our Chi (energy).

The effect is pretty powerful, bringing the nervous system, into a nice calm state.

Swipe across to practice three forms that will effectively rewrite your day🙏

🌿 Opening the bow from left to right - stretches your upper body - opens the chest, allowing more oxygen to enter the body, focuses the mind on drawing the bow back with one arm and visualising the aim of the arrow through the ‘L’ of the opposite hand. The action not only achieves expansion and length but also brings vital energy in.

🌿 Separating heaven and earth - Holding One Arm Up and One Arm Down. This movement is graceful yet deeply impactful, helping to balance, stretch, and harmonize the energy throughout the body.
The continuous rhythm of stretch and release induces a beautiful sense of calm, allowing you to come home to yourself.

🌿 Rolling the chi ball to separate heaven and earth - introduces the chi ball to give a nice extra organ massage through the rolling extension action of the back, creating a beautiful flow of Qi, helping to improve suppleness and flexibility around the spine.

Save these flows to practice in your own time.

Here’s 3 ways to improve your mobility as you age gracefully through life - from sitting to standing.

CHECK THIS OUT!
Studies show that being able to get up from the floor without using your hands can take six years off your life.

New research reveals that middle aged people who can stand with no assistance from their hands and without wobbling are much less likely to die prematurely from natural or heart related causes, compared with people who struggle.

Meaning you could live longer by getting up from the floor with no hands! - interesting research don’t you think?

The wonderful advantage to practicing qigong is how the easy, slow, intentional movements effectively regulate your nervous system, bringing you into a nice calm state.

Swipe across to practice three forms that will physically mobilise your body and calm your nervous system.

For me October marks the end of a natural cycle, signified by the changes in colour and abundance of falling leaves - a crisp, misty, golden month where the light is sweet and heavy.

October brings a natural shift , allowing us to let go of what no longer serves us.

A time to enjoy spiritual cleansing with crystals and chakra energy healing, that allows space for renewal, where every morning is a chance to start again.

A little reminder to forgive yourself, forgive others and release the weight of yesterday. But also to choose each thought carefully and let my actions reflect love.

Yesterday’s post, we surrendered into Sleeping Swan — softening the hips and loosening the heart.

But surrender isn’t just one moment; it’s a practice we return to again and again.

Each yin pose holds a doorway into release, an opportunity to let go of what weighs us down.

As you enter each shape, whisper to yourself:
✨ “What am I ready to release today?”

🌿In Deer Pose, the body slowly unwinds, tension loosens, and muddled thoughts begin to settle.

🌿In Half Butterfly Fold, the spine lengthens, the back opens, and suddenly there is more space for breath, for lightness, for joy.
Yesterday, we surrendered into Sleeping Swan — softening the hips and loosening the heart.

🌿In Half Butterfly Fold, the spine lengthens, the back opens, and suddenly there is more space for breath, for lightness, for joy.

🌿In Supported Child, you sink deeply, feeling the earth hold you, reminding you that it’s safe to let go.

🌿And in Supported Rest, surrender becomes complete — a warmth, a comfort, a gentle returning home to yourself.

Every time you melt into these poses, you’re practicing the art of release.

And in that release, you create space for renewal, softness, and peace.

✨ Yin Yoga Swan Pose ✨

One of the most loved Yin postures in my classes is Swan pose.

Physically, it deeply opens the hips and quads, lengthens the front of the body, and helps ease tension in the lower back.

But its true gift goes much deeper…
When you hold Swan for an extended time, breathing slowly and steadily, the body softens, emotions release, and the mind begins to surrender. 🌿

This is where Yin really works — creating space to let go of what no longer serves you, unburdening both body and thoughts. Over time, this gentle melting brings a profound sense of calm and clarity.

Use props — a cushion, bolster, or blanket under the hip — so your body feels supported. Then allow gravity to do the work as you fold & breathe deeply. ✨

Listen closely, not just to your body, but also to how you feel. Swan is an invitation to release, restore, and simply be. 💕

✨Save this post for your next Yin practice - and share it with someone who could use@a little release.💕
