Make your wedding ceremony something to remember with my no boring bits guide!

Honestly, you don't have to stick to tradition if you don't want to.

Want your best friend to walk you down the aisle?
Have dreamed of wearing a black dress on your wedding day?
Don't want your guests falling asleep during your ceremony?

it's your day, do it your way.

When you have a celebrant-led wedding ceremony, you're free, TO DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!

I'll say it louder at the back for those that have just woken up.

Here are some things to consider to make your ceremony more like you and less like an out of date mouldy cheese:

Story telling – tell your love story, how you met, the engagement, the laughs, the downs and everything in between.

Readings – not just hymns but songs, poems, film quotes, TV quotes, poems by family members, the world is yours!

Rituals – hand fasting, knot tying, drinking shots, jumping over limbos, sand pouring, ring warming, or make something up that represents you.

Vows and Commitments – you can write your own vows and promises and still include traditional or religious elements if you would like.

TW: Miscarriage

Our engagement story is one of happiness, drunk-ness and heartbreak all rolled into one.

My fiance proposed to me on Ibiza beach (Playa D'en Bossa, my childhood home) in 2010 when a very silly me decided to get very drunk beforehand, not realising that my beau had a ring in his pocket 😂

So he recalls that he had to drag me down to the beach before I couldn't remember what he was about to do and in the sand dunes at night with the waves crashing in the background, he got down on one knee and I apparently said yes😆

Two months later I was pregnant with twins (we didn't like to hang around!) but unfortunately had a missed miscarriage and it devastated us.

Picture one is us at our engagement party, it was a masquerade themed ball with our then eldest son and we celebrated under bitter sweet circumstances.

Because of course, the show must go on.

Picture two was taken a few minutes after we got engaged - can't you tell how drunk I was?😜

And picture 3 was taken in Ibiza town a couple of nights later, looking all loved up and engaged!

So whilst we were extremely happy to be getting married, it was also overshadowed by loss and heartache.

Thankfully, we were blessed to get pregnant again 2 years later with our second son and we have indeed lived happily ever after.

To all the future couples about to get engaged over the festive period, I hope your story is full of joy and love.

On the back of last week's post about my values, I thought I'd get the message across about the type of couple's I don't work with or particularly want.

After recovering from my couple cancelling with only 7 days to go, I am updating my terms and giving my business the glow up it deserves so that I only attract my favourite people that get it.

So here's the opposite values that I really don't want so if you share any of these, I am not the celebrant for you😜

It was only in August when I qualified as a Wedding celebrant and already my first booking is approaching next week.

My goal of getting at least one wedding booked in for the end of the year is achieved although I didn't mean it needed to literally be for this year😂

But now, another chapter is brewing and I am now officially in training to be a funeral celebrant too.

Initially, I wanted to do this first as I have always had a morbid fascination with death.

Losing my Dad to Covid in April 2020, meant that he didn't get the send off and funeral he deserved.

So I wanted to give back to families so that no one ever gets to experience not saying goodbye to their loved ones the way I did.

However, I chose weddings first because being in the industry for 13 years as an entertainer made more sense from a business POV.

I cannot wait to get stuck in and soon to be offering celebrations of life and living funerals.

The next chapter is pending....👀

You may have seen the by and whilst I won't be completing the whole challenge, I do feel that I need to post a few of the points that resonate with me.

So day one was all about your brand values and I feel that many amazing celebrants match my vibes with the same values and passions as I have!

it's hard to think outside the box when we're all offering the same stuff BUT as I am a rebel, I knew that my values were slightly different to others.

Because of course, we're all about joy, and authenticity and creativity etc, that should be standard practice my lovelies!

But what I really care about is:

Freedom
Passion
Storytelling with excitement
Uniqueness
Celebrations of all things
Inclusivity

Without this, your ceremonies will just blend in to the crowd and you don't want that, you want it to be memorable, right?
