We’re so happy to see our client’s dream of a forever home finally coming to life. It’s been many, many months in the making.

Working with an amazing multidisciplinary team and a brilliant construction firm, we’ve helped design and build a fully accessible home that’s tailored to our client’s unique needs. It’s more than just bricks and mortar, it’s independence, style, and environmentally sustainable living.

Move-in day is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be prouder to have been part of this journey. Huge congratulations to everyone involved, your care and expertise have made this possible 💙

Introducing our new Associate Occupational Therapist, who is now available to take on new caseloads across West Yorkshire.

Rebecca Parr brings over a decade of experience in neurological rehabilitation, with a clinical focus on brain injury, mental health, and complex adult needs.

She is particularly skilled in postural management and equipment provision, including assessments for wheelchairs and adapted vehicles. Rebecca also specialises in housing adaptations and environmental assessments, ensuring clients can live safely and independently.

As a certified “Train the Trainer” in moving and handling and a member of the National Back Exchange, she offers expert guidance in safe practice and manual handling strategies.

Whether you're learning to drive again after an injury, exploring vehicle adaptations, or just wondering what support is available, we’re here to help. We’ll be talking about:

What is an OT driving assessment? It’s a friendly, supportive look at how your health and abilities affect your driving. We look at things like reaction time, thinking skills, physical movement, and how you manage everyday tasks. It’s all about helping you drive safely, or finding other ways to stay mobile.

Her lifting technique? Bold. Her posture? Questionable.

We’ve all done it, bent at the waist, twisted mid-lift, and hoped for the best. But your spine deserves better!

This week, we’re tackling posture while lifting and carrying. Whether it’s a laundry basket, a toddler, or a mystery box from the office cupboard, there’s a safer way to do it.

✅Bend your knees, not your back
✅Keep the box close to your body
✅Don’t twist, turn with your feet
✅Engage your core before lifting
✅Use both hands (even for light stuff!)

As occupational therapists, we always consider posture when clients are bending or reaching, to help prevent further injury. It's equally important for carers to be mindful of this, especially when assisting with moving and handling tasks such as bed or chair transfers.
