This week saw the last of the dementia bus training! Today we embarked on a new journey of discovery with our staff! Giving those with a healthy brain an experience of what dementia might be like, allowing them to enter the world of the person and understand which simple changes they could make to their practice and the environment to really improve lives of people with dementia. Briarlea, a lovely detached building, is set in 4 acres and was originally constructed around 1900. The home has undergone several extensions, the latest being completed in 2019, where 5 extra luxury bedrooms were added. Briarlea boasts a large garden room with access to the patio and garden area and has a further two day rooms comprising of the drawing room and library. We also have a dedicated dining room where the residents can enjoy home cooked foods. As well as providing care for permanent residents, Briarlea also offers respite and day care. There is a dedicated member of staff for creating interesting activities for residents and most bedrooms offer single en-suite accommodation.
