Things have been very quiet at Moorbrook Makes; the most obvious reason for this is Covid 19 which makes tuition almost impossible but there has been another reason that kept me out of action from the end of October to March. I noticed a mark on the sole of my foot in October and was referred urgently to dermatology who removed it that day. After a slow recovery with twice weekly doctor visits I heard just before New Year that it was malignant and further surgery and a skin graft would be needed. I am now walking just about normally but with light dressings as protection against friction. I have been incredibly lucky to have discovered this early and should not need any further treatment. Although this type of melanoma is rare it is often not noticed or misdiagnosed until it has progressed further and more drastic treatment is needed - please check the soles of your feet, between your toes and under the nail for any marks (mine was just a flat area of darker skin) and get anything checked out.
When closer physical proximity becomes possible again I hope to get the workshops and individual tuition up and running again so if you have any requests let me know and I will plan them in as soon as possible.
