Next week will be Hospice UK's Dying awareness week. As a nation we are very proud of our organisational skills. Most of us spend our year planning our next holiday, packing lists, destination research, hotel bookings and much more. Unfortunately we don't seem able to discuss or plan our final moments or funerals. Do you have any questions about funeral or planning.

We’re currently creating a शांत, peaceful space near our grounds pond - a place for quiet reflection, connection with nature, and a moment to pause. 🌿
This area is also rich in wildlife, and the protected great crested newt may be present in and around the pond. These fascinating amphibians are a sign of a healthy ecosystem, so we kindly ask everyone to be mindful of their habitat and observe from a distance if spotted.
Newts may not be everyone’s favourite adorable animal. But here at Wimple we have wildlife to suit all interests, from Bats, deer, woodpeckers, herons and hedgehogs to bugs and interesting mini beasts.
We look forward to sharing this special place with you - where nature, reflection, and community come together 🌼.
What particular animal would you be most excited to see?

Spring is finally here 🌸🌿 and with it comes some very special visitors! We’ve started spotting deer wandering through the grounds again-such a beautiful reminder of the season and the nature all around us. Keep an eye out, you never know when one might quietly pass by! 🦌✨

We’re delighted to welcome Dan Yeo to our team as our new Memorials Representative.
This role is such an important part of what we do-supporting families with care, sensitivity, and attention to detail. We’re confident Dan will continue that great work while bringing his own strengths to the role.
Welcome to the team, Dan-we’re so pleased to have you with us and wish you every success in your new position!

Spring is in the air, and so are some exciting changes in our grounds 🌸🌿
Our wonderful grounds team are hard at work adding some lovely new touches to make visits to our gardens and memorial areas even more peaceful and enjoyable.
There’s more to come, so keep a close eye out over the coming weeks to spot all the little improvements as they appear 👀✨

This is the news I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for... 🎉
As you know, we entered a team into the local community charity pub quiz on Sunday to help raise funds for this year’s Whimple Fest - and we’re proud to have donated £500.00 towards it! 👏
So... how did we do on the night? 🤔
Well, with all our combined brain power, we finished in 4th place! 🧠✨..but wait - there was a joint second place... so does that technically make us 3rd? We’ll let you decide! 😄
All in all, a brilliant evening for a great cause - and we’ll definitely be back to try and climb the leaderboard next time! 🏆

This coming Sunday we’ll be joining our friends in our local village for a quiz night, raising money for this year’s Whimple Fest! 🎉
We’ve gathered all the brains from our team and we’re going for gold 🥇 Wish us luck... we might just need it!
Hopefully we’ll also see some friendly faces there too 👋

At East Devon Crematorium, you are warmly welcome to visit and take a quiet moment to reflect. If you would like to share a message, you can write a card or letter to your loved one and post it in our “Letters to Loved Ones” post box, located in our garden of Remembrance area.

Whether it’s a few words, a memory, or simply a message from the heart, this can be a gentle way to feel close to someone special who is no longer with us.
Our grounds are open 24/7 to anyone who wishes to come, remember, and take a peaceful moment this Mother’s Day.

Spring is beginning to show its beauty across the grounds at East Devon Crematorium.
One of our young blossom trees has started to bloom, bringing soft shades of pink to the gardens and reminding us that the seasons continue to change around us. As the days grow longer and the weather begins to warm, the grounds are slowly coming back to life.

Many families and visitors find comfort in the peaceful surroundings here, and it’s lovely to see nature playing its part again as spring arrives.
If you are visiting in the coming weeks, you may notice more flowers appearing, trees beginning to blossom, and the gardens gently waking after the winter months.
A small but beautiful sign that spring has arrived.

The grounds at East Devon Crematorium are looking particularly beautiful today, with the wintery sunshine bringing a calm and peaceful feel across the gardens.
Please note that while the car park has been gritted, the paths around the memorial gardens and the wider grounds have not. If you are visiting us today, we kindly ask that you take extra care under foot as some areas may be slippery.
Thank you and take care while visiting.
