We are excited to announce that the NIHR: PRC: Exeter has become the Royal Devon Commercial Research Centre!

Alongside our new name, we’ll be joining 11 other independent partners to become the South West Commercial Research Group. This brings together acute, community, and mental health NHS Trusts, GP surgeries, and healthcare providers, all working together to increase access to life-changing clinical research.

By working alongside industry partners, we’re opening up more opportunities for patients to benefit from innovative treatments and therapies.

The Royal Devon is leading ground-breaking clinical research that has the potential to transform treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders.

Delivered in collaboration with the University of Exeter Faculty of Health & Life Sciences and Devon Partnership NHS Trust, the studies involve using regulated forms of psychedelic drugs.

These innovative therapies could prove effective for treating conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and major depressive disorder (MDD).

If you are due to have surgery with the Royal Devon, you may be invited to take part in a national study aimed at improving the quality of NHS surgical care. This is called the Perioperative Quality Improvement Programme (PQIP).

“Perioperative” refers to the time before, during and after surgery. Our aim is to improve the care and treatment of patients undergoing major surgery in the UK.
