This weekend we were out in the local community to give advise on good posture and information on getting on top of those aches and pains that people so commonly get stuck with, not knowing what steps to take to resolve.

It was lovely meeting lots of new people and saying hello to many people that we already know 🙌

Luckily the weather came good and we just dodged a few showers under the gazebo 😀

Problems with Posture? Read This!

Most of us have a posture problem — whether we admit it or not. Sitting at the desk, scrolling on the phone, and driving are slowly reshaping our spines, leading to stiffness, tension, and long-term joint wear. 😬

One of the best things that you can do for your back is to get a proper desk setup.

✅Start with a proper, supportive chair so that you can sit upright.
✅Ideally the height of your knee is below the height of your hips
✅Sitting upright in the chair, adjust your monitor so that the top of the screen is at eye level.
✅Keep your keyboard, mouse and notepad/pen close to you so that you aren't reaching out.

With a good desk setup, it's still a good idea to get up regularly and move about, to give those muscles and joints a breather!

Best wishes
Richard, Jack, Lawrence and Danielle

Physiotherapy for achilles tendonitis

Achilles tendonitis is an incredibly debilitating injury to the tendon at the back of the heal. Usually caused by overuse or some imbalance putting too much strain on this tendon, the tendon becomes damaged.

Our expert physiotherapist, Danielle is highly qualified to treat this type of condition, combining modalities like shockwave therapy, cold laser therapy, hand-on techniques and the correct guidance on rehab exercises.

If you are suffering from what you think is achilles tendonitis, please take advantage of our FREE phone consultation with a practitioner. If we feel that we might be able to help we can explain or we can point you in the right direction.

Did you know that sitting for long periods can be just as bad for your back as heavy lifting?

Keeping your spine moving is key to preventing stiffness and pain!

Regular breaks, getting up every 20 minutes to stand up and move around can make a real difference to preventing aches and pains.

Best wishes,
Richard, Jack, Lawrence and Danielle

Jack and Lawrence talk strengthening 💪

We were invited to give a presentation to the Friends of Mount Pleasant Health Centre and the topic was 'muscles and strength training'.

They talked about the importance of maintaining muscle strength, particularly leg strength and how we lose 1% of muscle mass every year over the age of 40.

To prevent continued weakening, some basic, simple exercises that can be done at home were demonstrated and everyone got involved with these exercises 🏋️‍♂️

Keeping muscles in the legs strong maintains mobility and prevents trips and falls as we get older, so we can keep doing the things we enjoy.

If you would like us to come and do a talk at your place of work or for a group people that might benefit, then please get in touch ☎

'What's in those boxes'!?

Lots of questions in clinic yesterday about what was in the boxes sitting outside. Well, after clinic we got busy unpacking and very excited to finally reveal our new specialist treatment tables, ordered all the way back in October last year. These treatment tables will improve comfort during treatment and increase the ability of practitioners to perform their amazing techniques.

Looking forward to treating all existing and new practice members in even greater comfort, with even better results ❤

Don't stretch that painful tendon! 💥

Tendon pain is incredibly common and it might be intuitive to stretch, but this can aggravate the tendon injury further. Stretching tight muscles is ok but tendons don't really stretch and other methods will get on top of that injury quicker and better ✅
