🩸 Blood Pressure Awareness Week 2025 🩸
This week is all about raising awareness of high blood pressure – often called the “silent killer” because it usually has no symptoms but can lead to serious health conditions if left untreated.

High blood pressure affects more than 1 in 4 adults in England and it can lead to serious health conditions like stroke or heart attack.
In fact, at least half of all heart attacks and strokes are associated with high blood pressure, so if you've been diagnosed, it's important to know your numbers.

You can get your blood pressure checked at:

2️⃣ Your local pharmacy
3️⃣ At home using your own device

🚨 UK Emergency Alert Test 🚨

The UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system this Sunday, 7th September 2025 at 3pm. Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

✨ Changes to cervical screening results ✨

Starting September 2025, if your cervical screening test shows a negative result, you’ll get a message and notification directly in the NHS App.

📌 If you don’t open the message within 72 hours, a letter will be sent to you.
📬 Any abnormal results will continue to be delivered by post.

👩‍👧‍👦 Head lice and nits are very common in young children and families. They’re not caused by dirty hair but they can spread through head-to-head contact.

What to do if you spot them:
✅ Treat head lice as soon as you notice them.
✅ Check everyone in your household and treat anyone who has them.
✅ Children don’t need to stay off school.
✅ No need to hot wash laundry.

You can treat head lice without seeing a GP.

Lice and nits can often be removed by wet combing.
If that doesn’t work, a medicated lotion or spray may help.
