I’ve just heard someone on the radio say a great way to test whether a thought is a good one is to go outside and then see if you still feel the same. He also said that thoughts that come to you are better than the thoughts you go towards.

I love this suggestion and this is often what I find works well for me. So get outside today, let your thoughts come to you and see what great ideas you come up with - the sun is shining it’s the perfect day to try it out! 😎☀️😎☀️

I always tell clients very early on that hypnotherapy sessions are very different from what they may have seen Paul McKenna do on TV. So I was intrigued to attend his ‘Success for Life’ coaching evening yesterday. I love finding out new strategies and ways to improve life.

I was struck by how many of the techniques he suggested to us I already use with my clients. He used quite a bit of visualisation explaining that by planting the image in our minds of what we want to achieve it allows our subconscious brain to access our inner resources to move us towards our goals.

We do this in every session and it is a key part of moving forward, asking yourself how do you want life to be different, what will you be doing differently, how will that make you feel and what’s the first step you can take towards making this happen?

He also talked about the benefits of positive thinking, how it actually rewires the brain, again a key component of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

So I still say that what we do isn’t anything like what Paul McKenna does in his shows but many of the suggestions he gave for success my clients are already doing.

It was an interesting evening and I was really pleased to go with my friend Karina, another Solution Focused Hypnotherapist. Being able to discuss what we learnt and share our own ideas about how we help clients is really important to me and definitely makes me better at what I do. We have another evening planned next week with Dr David Hamilton who knows a lot about how the brain works and we can’t wait to learn more then!

When you come to see me we chat about how you want your life to be, then after talking about what steps you can take to achieve that, you can enjoy lying on this very comfy couch while your subconscious brain does all the heavy lifting. It will work out how to get where you want to be in the best way possible. When you open your eyes, after your mind has come up with lots of solutions (you may not know what they are yet and your brain will keep thinking about them for a few days after we meet), the first thing you see is the garden at Holmedale Health. It is a lovely location to come and work out how you want life to be and what you can do to make that happen.
