Sharing a few thoughts on a cold January day in Exeter

I always have mixed feelings about this time of year. I don't like the winter, it doesn't suit me at all, but I do see it as a new beginning, a time to reflect and maybe reset. What will this year offer me? What might open up for me this year?

Already a new work opportunity has come my way, but I'm aware that this only happened because I paused late last year, and made changes to reshape my counselling and supervision practice, thereby creating new space for new things to come in.

I'm very grateful that I'm able to do the work that I love, that enriches and sustains me., and helps other people. A good balance for me, but this wasn't always the case. It's been quite a journey, with a few bumps in the road along the way.

I'm a very enthusiastic practitioner of self care, and have been for may years; long before it became a "thing". My approach includes regular time off, in my case, mainly in sunny warm places, and regular me time even when at home.

What's your approach? How do you manage the work/life balance that you keeps you happy and well?

Sending my best wishes and hoping you all have the year that you wish for

I’ll soon be celebrating 5 years of living and working in Exeter following my relocation from Edinburgh.

So much has happened in this time, both professionally and personally and I’m reflecting on how grateful I feel to still be doing what I love.

I’m recently back from 3 glorious weeks on my favourite Greek island , feeling rested and restored and ready to work with my existing clients , and
looking forward to welcoming new Counselling clients to my practice in central Exeter.

I currently have some availability for regular counselling sessions on Wednesday afternoons, so please contact me for more information.

Our Story

Having been in private practice in Edinburgh for over 10 years I’m now living and working in the lovely city of Exeter . I see my face to face counselling and supervision clients in a lovely comfy room at PAC Exeter on Barnfield Crescent and at Studio One Therapy Hub, both in the Southernhay Quarter of the city . I also work online via Skype or Facetime.

My counselling approach can help if you are experiencing depression or anxiety, having relationship issues, career issues , loss of confidence or low self esteem, or you may be dealing with abuse , difficulties with anger or grief. I also have extensive experience of working with and supporting University students at all stages of their academic careers. Emotions like sadness, anxiety , confusion , grief and sorrow or relationship problems may be making your day to day life difficult to manage, or you may be struggling to cope with a difficult situation in your personal life or at work, and would benefit from some extra support. My service is confidential and my approach centres on creating a relationship based on trust, understanding and acceptance through which you can explore your issues or concerns and find ways to cope better or bring about the change you’re looking for. I understand that choosing a counsellor can be a difficult thing to do , so I offer an initial low cost half hour meeting for us to discuss your expectations of counselling and for you to find out more about my approach .
