ng all those qualities into the classroom, our one and only aim is to ensure that you enjoy your training, it is after all part of the process. Health and Safety and First Aid Training is something that every business in the UK needs to take very seriously – for their own good. But it’s no secret that for most people, health and safety is complicated, boring, stressful, overwhelming – or all of the above. First Aid Courses

We ensure that we offer sufficient equipment for you all to take part in the practical aspects of the course, this in turn ensures that you havent got half a dozen people watching you do CPR whilst the rest wait and watch, and can be embarrassing to say the least. We have invested in new choking jackets that never fail to add to the enjoyment of the training. Training Defibrillators now play a part as well. Health & Safety Courses

On our Fire Marshal course, you are given the training and tools on how to complete a Fire Risk Assessment. On our Food Safety course we look at practical assessments on hand cleaning, we have interactive quizzes for our Health & Safety Courses, and lots more we aim is to ensure you learn but have some fun, if you have to be here why not have fun! No sling? No first aid kit?

You’ve still got options.

In our last Trainer's Corner video in the sling series, Emilia and Charlene show how you can use everyday items like a shirt, hoodie or scarf to support an injured arm.

It’s not about making it perfect but about making it work.

With the Bank Holiday weekend around the corner, many people will be heading outdoors gardening or enjoying a picnic, going for a hike on Dartmoor, or enjoying time with family.

Bank Holiday weekends are a great opportunity for exploring and relaxing… but they also tend to be busy ones for minor injuries.

A few practical reminders:

🔸Keep a stocked first aid kit nearby
🔸Be cautious around BBQs, hot surfaces and tools
🔸Take slips, trips and head bumps seriously
🔸Know when to seek further help

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend and here's hoping the sun will shine.

Elevation sling can sound quite technical…but in reality, it’s still based on the same simple idea.

You’re not trying to get it perfect, you’re supporting the position the person is already in.

In our latest Trainer's Corner video in the sling series, we also show how to check circulation once the sling is in place, something that’s often forgotten but really useful to know.

We’ve been sharing quite a few of our Trainer's Corner videos recently on first aid tips like slings, burns and sprains. They provide simple, practical skills that can make a big difference.

But one thing we hear a lot is:

'It’s so much easier when you actually practise it.'

That’s where group training really comes into its own.

Whether it’s in a school, workplace, or out on site, training together means:

🔸 People feel more confident
🔸 It’s relevant to your environment
🔸 And it tends to stick

We can come to you, or you can join us at our training centre in Exeter, whichever works best.

If it’s something you’ve been thinking about, feel free to get in touch for a chat.

Applying a sling is one of those things people can often overthink.

This is the second video in our short series on slings, where we take things a step further and show how to apply one in a way that’s simple, practical, and comfortable.

The key thing?

🔸 You’re not trying to move the arm into the “correct” position
🔸 You’re supporting the position the person is already in

Once you think about it like that, it becomes much more straightforward.

A helpful reminder that effective first aid doesn’t need to be complicated.

Slings are one of those things people remember from first aid training…but often feel a bit unsure about afterwards.

So we’re sharing a few short videos on slings, starting with the basics.

🔸 When do you actually need one?
🔸 And when might you not?

Sometimes it’s less about doing more, and more about keeping things simple.

Electrical burns aren’t just “normal” burns.

They can affect the heart, they can have an entry and exit wound, and the danger might still be live.

In our latest Trainer’s Corner video, the team talk through:
🔸 Why danger comes first
🔸 Why you must isolate electricity before approaching
🔸 Why running water beats burns gel
🔸 When a burn needs medical attention
🔸 The simple SCALD acronym

If you take one thing away from this one - cool the burn under running water for 20 minutes.

Most people think first aid is all about quick reactions.

But sometimes, it’s about slowing things down and asking the right questions.

In one of our first aid sessions run last week, our delegates were practising secondary surveys and using the SAMPLE approach, a simple way to understand what’s really going on with a casualty.

Because once the immediate danger has passed, knowing what to ask, and what to look for, can make all the difference.

This is something we focus on in our training: not just reacting in the moment, but building the confidence to understand what to do next.
