Sharing as asked by NHS
Good afternoon,

We are working with local communities to offer health & wellbeing advice including offering our NHS Health Check clinics, to those eligible within the 40 – 74 age range.

The NHS Health Check is a free check-up of your overall health, it can identify whether someone is at a higher risk of getting certain health problems such as:

Heart disease
Diabetes
Kidney disease
Stroke

During the check up, our team will discuss how to reduce an individuals risk of these conditions.

We are running a series of clinics over the coming months at various locations across Exeter, East and Mid Devon. Our current clinics throughout June & July are listed below, however we will continue to share our upcoming clinics with you.

I would be grateful if you could share these with your communities and service users, if anyone is interested in making an appointment at the clinics below, please email rduh.exetervaccinationcentre@nhs.net

We often discuss this on our walks at this time of the year.

We're often asked the difference between native English and Spanish bluebells, so here you go!

You may well have seen some hybrid bluebells out there too, carrying characteristics from both varieties.

What we haven't been able to show you here is another defining difference between the two varieties - English bluebells have a strong, sweet scent whereas their Spanish cousins have little to no scent.

Thank you for helping us care for our native bluebells by sticking to the paths to prevent footfall damage. Remember: bluebells don't grow where feet go.

PARKWALK RELAUNCH - 26/4/25

Walking can be for everyone at parkrun, and parkwalk is here to prove it!

New to parkrun? Coming back after a break? Just looking for a relaxed way to get active? Whatever your reason, this is your moment.

And don’t worry - you’ll never finish last - we have a volunteer Tail Walker for that. We also have volunteer Parkwalkers to support you on your way round the course. You'll never Parkwalk alone!

If you're a parkrun regular think about bringing a friend, family member or colleague for a great 5k walk (but no dogs I'm afraid)

Nordic Walking in Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom

Join Sue at Exe Nordic Walking to learn the technique, one-to-one, following the INWA 10 step method and enjoy the physical, mental and social benefits we offer through being physically active in Exeter’s green open spaces, natures gym!

Nordic Walking combines the simplicity and accessibility of walking with simultaneous core and upper body conditioning similar to Nordic skiing. The result is a full body workout, which means that you:

  • burn up to 46% more calories compared to walking without poles – increases maximum oxygen uptake and caloric expenditure

  • release tension in the neck and shoulders
