March is Endometriosis Action Awareness Month 🌿
We know many people in our own circles who live with different experiences of endometriosis. Because of that, raising a little awareness about the condition feels important to us.
Endometriosis happens when tissue similar to the lining of the womb begins to grow in places outside the womb. These cells still respond to the monthly hormone cycle, which can lead to inflammation, pain, scar tissue, and a range of other symptoms. For some people, the impact is occasional, for others it can be long-term and life-changing.
Endometriosis affects around 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth, from puberty through to menopause. In the UK alone, that’s more than 1.5 million people living with the condition.
