I love this commission.

Making a custom sunglass clip for a RayBan metal rim.

What goes into the build?
🟩 We need two rims of a similar shape to the worn frame. Often we can source a similar shape from a quality material like stainless steel.
🟪 An adjustable top bar is laser welded to the upper rim. This allows micro adjustment of the clip, and gives a super retro finish.
🟨 4x claw grips added to the top and bottom of each rim to hold the clip in place.

🟦 The finishing touches. After a full polish, the rim is placed in a solution to clean the surface and prepare it for coating. A final coat of 24K gold ✨️.

How do we measure quality in eyewear?

🔵 Does a quality frame come at a higher premium?
🟠 Do you need to understand the heritage of the maker?

Only one answer is correct. By taking time to understand the background of the maker, the history of the brand - you can then make an informed judgement on the purchase.

Most independent opticians curate their premium brands. Many makers you will never of heard of, but these could be the gems 💎

Ask about the maker, enjoy the back story. Understand a spectacles journey as we do jewellery or watch making.

Just look at this DITA frame.
Beautifully designed and manufactured.
❤️This is optical jewellery🤩
Our craftsman re-bonded the broken acetate in 2 places using solvents.
🟩 left upper rim
🟦 left side arm

This process takes 3 days to cure, then the magic starts.

The surfaces are carefully prepared before polishing. A careful process that removes any formation marks from the repair.

🟡 The final touch. We use emersion tanks to 24K gold plate the metal parts to fully restore the frame.
