Heeey! ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
Did you know that 90% of serotonin - The feel-good hormone is produced in the gut and that many other neuro transmitters are produced in the gut!! It's a whole separate system that is helping to regulate mood and feelings.
โ ๏ธHANGER is an actual thing!
When we are not eating and our glucose levels drop, adrenaline and cortisol levels rise. These chemicals in the brain that trigger hunger are the same ones that trigger anger, rage, and other emotions! โ๏ธ
When we don't eat, we also feel sluggish and weaker, and it can also affect our concentration, remembering things, and other cognitive functions.
When your cortisol levels rise, it leads to an increased appetite - where you raid the cupboard like a rabid beast looking for chocolate, crisps, high sugar, high fat, convenient and processed foods!
The stress response can also contribute to the build-up of fat tissue and weight gain.
So next time you think about dropping calories to dangerous levels, skipping a meal, or trying to live off of 'rabbit food'. Please stop!
Your gut, and I'm sure those around you will thank you for eating sensibly, in moderation, and making good choices to fuel your body, so you can be running like a well serviced, non angry machine.
FOOD IS FUEL ๐ฅ
