Welcome to Walrus Writing (Writing for Well Being )
I would like to invite you to join me, as we learn together, of all the benefits that
writing, reading and sharing our stories, brings to our mental health and our overall, well being.
Recently, I was asked, “what’s this all about then? “,. I, in my usual way, was
delighted to enthusiastically explain. Below were our conversation highlights:
What is Writing for well being?
• Writing for well being is part of a tool kit of ways to help us feel better.
• Writing for well being, is a simple and rewarding way to develop selfexpression and make space for reflection.
• It is something everyone can try.
• It has been shown to help us gain insight and perspective on our lives and
can help us find ways ahead in difficult times.
• No prior writing skill or experience is necessary, and there is no requirement
that you should write in a specific language, style or form.
• This is not writing for publication (but can be!)
• Putting your thoughts on paper can make it easier to think about them and
find new perspectives, rediscovering forgotten memories and skills.
• It is making space to write for yourself, focusing on process and content rather
than spelling or grammar. All you need, is a safe space, a short time and your
preferred way of working. (a pen or paper or an electronic device).
I will be running workshops, coaching and taster sessions across South West
England. Look out for my next sessions at Teignmouth Pavillions and Red Bay
Studio in Budleigh Salterton. We are also developing workshops for children
and families.
Thank you to all the people and groups who are already part of my Story.
