The Million-Mile-An-Hour-Mind
Anyone else struggling with that? Your brain is churning over around 70,000 thoughts a day. That's more than 25M per year! And these thoughts can be positive - things we are looking forward to, grateful for, excited about, or negative - our worries, fears and stresses.
When our thoughts start to swing more predominantly towards the negative it becomes very easy to get caught in cycles of negative thinking. This can quickly overtake our conscious thought and lead to stress in our minds and bodies that can feed anxieties, physical problems (muscle tension, headaches, palpitations, etc), affect sleep, eating habits, behaviours and thinking.
Wouldn't it be lovely to give your mind a break? Slow it down and create a bit of space in which to breathe, put things into perspective and move off again in a more positive direction. This is where mindfulness comes in. You hear it a lot, that mindfulness is a great for mental wellbeing, but how do you do it and where do you start? Well, you can start here, today, with these simple instructions for a quick and simple calming of your internal environment provided, with thanks, by the wonderful team at Heart Mind Institute (info@heartmind.co).
Give it a go, what have you got to loose?
I will be sharing weekly mindfulness tips to help build up a toolkit of positive mental practices you can use as and when or build into a regular habit.
