If youโ€™re expecting a baby in July or August, now is a great time to think about your antenatal preparation. My upcoming courses are now booking across East Devon and Exeter. ๐Ÿ’œ

These small, supportive classes are designed to help you feel calm, informed, and confident as you prepare for birth and the early weeks with your baby. ๐ŸŒฟ

As well as the 5-week courses, I also offer one-day antenatal courses at:
๐Ÿ“ Lympstone Village Hall, Exmouth
๐Ÿ“ The CUB, Honiton

These are a great option if youโ€™re looking for a more condensed way to prepare, while still covering all the key information and support.

โœจ 5-week and 1-day course options available
โœจ Specialist relaxation session
โœจ Goody bag
โœจ 1:1 postnatal follow-up support

Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended. โœจ

A little look at whatโ€™s going into our goody bags ๐Ÿ‘€๐ŸŽ

Weโ€™ve started pulling everything together this week and itโ€™s honestly so lovely seeing it all come to life ๐Ÿ’›

Weโ€™ve had some brilliant companies kindly donate items โ€” so youโ€™ll be able to try a mix of products at home, rather than just seeing them online.

Itโ€™s those little things that can make a difference when youโ€™re preparing for a baby (or figuring things out once theyโ€™re here).

There will be a limited number available on the day, so if youโ€™re thinking of coming along, itโ€™s worth popping in earlier rather than later ๐Ÿ‘€

๐ŸŒธ New Blog โ€“ Understanding the Natural Flow of Labour ๐ŸŒธ

Labour is a natural process that unfolds in its own rhythm, with each stage building on the last. Understanding this flow can help you feel more prepared, reassured, and confident as you approach birth. ๐Ÿ’œ

In my latest blog, I explore how labour commonly progresses, what your body is doing at each stage, and how creating a calm, supportive environment can help this natural flow. ๐ŸŒฟ

Itโ€™s a gentle, reassuring look at how your body works during birth โ€” helping you feel informed and able to trust the process as it unfolds. โœจ

Weโ€™re so pleased to have Devon Maternity & Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) joining us at our Baby & Pregnancy Support Event ๐Ÿค

MNVP is an independent group that works to ensure the voices of women, birthing people, and families are heard when it comes to maternity and neonatal services.

They gather feedback and experiences to help shape and improve local care โ€” making sure services reflect what families really need.

If youโ€™re pregnant, recently had a baby, or have experience of local maternity services, theyโ€™d love to hear from you.

Make sure you stop by their stand on the day to find out more or share your thoughts ๐Ÿ‘‹

๐ŸŒธ How Labour Commonly Unfolds ๐ŸŒธ

Labour is a unique experience for every parent, but understanding the general pattern can help you feel more prepared and confident as it begins. ๐Ÿ’œ

Labour often starts gradually, with early signs such as mild, irregular contractions that slowly build in strength and rhythm. This early phase can take time and is often best spent resting, staying comfortable, and keeping things calm. ๐ŸŒฟ

As labour progresses, contractions usually become stronger, longer, and closer together. This is when your body is working more actively to help your baby move down and be born.

Towards the final stage, there is often a strong urge to push as your body works to birth your baby. This stage can feel intense but is usually shorter and focused. ๐Ÿ’ซ

After your baby is born, your body continues to work to deliver the placenta, completing the process.

Every labour is different, and it may not follow a set pattern โ€” but understanding how it commonly unfolds can help you feel more informed and reassured. โœจ

A little bit about me (and why Iโ€™ve created this event) ๐Ÿ’›

Hi, Iโ€™m Aimee โ€” the face behind Nurturing Maternity Support and the organiser of this Baby & Pregnancy Support Event.

I set this event up because I know how overwhelming it can feel trying to find the right support during pregnancy and early parenthood โ€” and how much of a difference it makes when everything is in one place.

Through my antenatal classes across East Devon, I support parents to feel calm, confident, and prepared for birth and beyond ๐Ÿค
Creating this event felt like a natural extension of that โ€” bringing together a range of trusted local services and support for you to explore in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.

If youโ€™re pregnant or have a little one, Iโ€™d love for you to come along, have a browse, and say hello ๐Ÿ‘‹

๐ŸŒธ Birth Affirmation of the Week ๐ŸŒธ

"My body knows the rhythm of birth." ๐Ÿ’œ

Your body is designed to work in its own natural rhythm โ€” building, resting, and moving forward step by step. Each wave has a purpose, guiding you closer to meeting your baby. ๐ŸŒฟ

Trust in this rhythm, allow yourself to follow it, and know that your body understands the process even when it feels unfamiliar. โœจ

๐ŸŒธ Helpful Questions to Ask About Induction ๐ŸŒธ

If induction is being discussed during your pregnancy, having a few questions ready can help you feel more informed and confident in your decisions. ๐Ÿ’œ

Here are some helpful questions you might consider asking:

๐Ÿฉบ Why is induction being recommended?
Understanding the reason can help you make sense of your options.

โณ Is this urgent, or do I have time to think about it?
Knowing the timeframe can help you decide how quickly you need to make a decision.

โš–๏ธ What are the benefits and possible risks?
Balanced information helps you understand what each option may involve.

๐ŸŒฟ What are the alternatives?
Exploring other options, including waiting or monitoring, can give you a fuller picture.

๐Ÿ“Š What does the process involve?
Understanding the steps can help you feel more prepared for what to expect.

๐Ÿ’ฌ How might this affect my birth preferences?
This can help you think about how induction fits with your overall plan.

Taking the time to ask questions can help you feel informed, supported, and confident in the choices you make. โœจ
