When you’re used to thinking and talking about BIG things you have:
Tested your ideas,
Discovered what feels right,
Listened to different points of view,
WORKED OUT WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU.
When that’s second nature, you’re a more naturally curious person, able to see through manipulative rhetoric. You can consider new ideas without being overwhelmed. You stay open but you feel grounded.

It takes a deliberate approach but it doesn’t have to be difficult. Try a Natter Matters question round the table once a week. Start small and see where the conversation takes you.

Friday’s procrastination thought for the day: It’s not necessary or possible to change the whole world, so just sweep your side of the street. Make it as nice as you possibly can to live where you live, know who you know and to help who you help. We may never know the positive ripples our little actions make, but they’ll be there. So just keep being the kind of person you wish there were more of. Community is key.

I see that the Girl Guides and the Women’s Institute are amongst the organisations no longer accepting transgender women following the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of a woman. I want to make it clear that those organisations don’t have a choice if they want to avoid legal action so I’m not blaming them. I’m saying… what the hell are we doing? Why are we collectively buying into this scapegoating nonsense when every single day women and girls face very real threat from men and boys? From the low level undermining sexism to unwanted attention to outright violence. THAT toxicity and entitlement is the epidemic, not people wanting to feel comfortable in their own bodies.

I nearly didn’t make this post. It’s so much easier to feel quietly regretful and say nothing for fear of backlash or gross messages or people boycotting my small business but then I remembered to tuck my privilege back in and do it anyway.
