… but instead the president of the United States is dancing away with Jake Paul, like he’s not a disgusting, war-mongering, consequence-evading, Epste!n- entangled, out of his depth, megalomaniac.

According to their own investigation, the US was responsible for the missile strike on an Iranian elementary school that killed over 160 people, mostly children.

Do you think these Right Wing Parties are making their way through a name list? If so, I think I found their flip chart.

Whether it’s Reform or Restore- It’s all coming out of the playbook- exclude, divide, hunker down, blame people that don’t look like you, protect the super rich at all costs. There will always be new ‘baddies’ and none of the real problems will be fixed.

Looking after each other is great, caring about the planet is awesome, looking for unity and understanding is human and wonderful, taking collective responsibility for our communities is powerful.

We can choose fear and hate or we can choose love. I know what life I want.

If you choose not to comment, to look away, to not get involved in or discuss political issues then that’s fine (I suppose) but you cannot ignore that it is a CHOICE made by those whom this *points wildly in every direction* is not yet directly affecting. Some people, from the moment they were born, have had their very existence politicised. I don’t know what it must be like to never be able to take a day off ‘being political.’ It must be absolutely bloody exhausting and it’s one of the reasons I use what agency I have to keep banging on about equality and equity, justice and community.

Discussion leads to evaluation and evolution of ideas; to finding common ground. It leads to understanding, if not always agreement and it’s a much better foundation to build on than wilful non-participation.

This quote from a boy in a Year 3 class might not help me sell Natter Matters, but it did make me laugh.

Empathy, thinking, questioning, listening, sharing, connecting, disagreeing politely- these are skills to be nurtured and worth making a priority. And sometimes you’ve got to miss a few assemblies!

Please tag every teacher, TA, school leader and children’s organisation you know- I offer an education discount because I am so proud of these packs and I know from the feedback I get that they work. I want them in every classroom. You can find them on my website where’s there’s also a form for discounts.

This goes out particularly to the good people of Gorton and Denton ahead of the by-election. Something to pop in your window to make it clear where you stand. Not a Party Political poster, but a clear statement of beliefs about the qualities you see and want to see in our country.

I originally made this design as a response to all the limp Union and St George flags that appeared across the UK last year. Every flag illustrated on this poster represents at least 40,000 UK residents. These are our neighbours, our friends, our colleagues, people that make up the glorious and welcome diversity of our society.

I’ve since had A3 posters made and now, also, postcard bundles. You can still download a printable version too, from my ko-fi page.

We can choose division, but it doesn’t make us safer or happier or better off. Only community and connection can do that.

What do I think about this?… and…. Why do I think that?

We are information rich and analysis poor. You can ‘find things out’ so much more quickly than when I was growing up, but the skills of
source-checking,
identifying biases and
examining information from multiple perspectives
don’t seem to have caught up.

We have to practise a skill to get good at it. I’m not saying Natter Matters is your one and only tool for addressing the problem, but it’s a bloody good start! An easy habit to get into, just talking and exploring big ideas in a safe and manageable way.

When you’re used to asking questions and talking about deep subjects, you are better equipped to think critically when faced with potential propaganda or misinformation. We can’t rely on systems or leaders to save us, we have to save ourselves!
