In Our Nature

In Our Nature Offering Gong Baths in the Berwickshire, North Northumberland and East Lothian. Hi, I'm Liza Cole.

I have been fortunate enough to work in the field of nature conservation and countryside management for the last 30 years. During that time I have accumulated a huge amount of knowledge and experience; and I have worked in, lived in and looked after some truly fabulous places like the Elan Valley (Mid-Wales), Lundy (North Devon) and St Abb's Head (East Berwickshire). However, in recent years I hav

e spend more time in the office and less time out and about enjoying nature and sharing my love for it with others. The financial crisis brought about by Covid 19 resulted in me being made redundant from my job at St Abbs, and so I am taking this as an opportunity to return to doing the stuff I like the best - and so In Our Nature was born! I offer nature tours, talks and training alongside countryside advice and services.

I've recently started working for Splash part time as a Community Project Worker. One of the first things they've asked me to do is repeat an event that I first ran in 2008 when I was the Ranger for Berwickshire Marine Reserve. It was top fun then, so I expect it to be top fun again. Why not come and join us?

Fancy a boat race with a difference? Come join us for an Edible Boat Race!

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a high quality marine environment off the Berwickshire Coast that Scotland’s first Marine Reserve was formed to protect it, and it’s really important that we don’t do anything to jeopardise that. So instead of running a boat race using manmade materials, we are having a boat race with boats made only out of natural materials!

All you need to do is design and build your craft and bring it along to Eyemouth Beach where our 3 esteemed judges (from RNLI Eyemouth Lifeboat, Eyemouth Marine Ltd and Berwickshire Marine Reserve) will decide who wins the three prizes: - one for the most spectacular boat, one for the fastest boat and one for the most seaworthy boat.

Everybody is welcome – adults, children, family groups, friendship groups – whatever! The only rule is that the boat must be totally edible!
