💜 Understanding the Impact of Deafness on Mental Health 💜

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐱𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲, 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?
Barriers in communication, feelings of exclusion, and a lack of understanding from others can deeply affect their emotional well-being.

At The Parachute Project, we are committed to making our services and spaces inclusive and accessible. Here are three meaningful ways to support deaf children and their mental health:

👂 Foster Inclusive Environments: Help them feel heard, valued and respected.
💬 Promote Open Communication: Offer tailored mental health resourcees to meet their needs.
💡 Raise Awareness: Educate others about the challenges deaf children face to build a more supportive community.

Together, let's create a world where every child thrives - emotionally, socially, and beyond! 🌍

When school starts to feel overwhelming for a young person, everything else can start to unravel too…

You might be seeing anxiety building, refusal creeping in, or a young person who just isn’t coping in the way they used to.

At The Parachute Project, we use our unique Emotional Resilience Programme — delivered both in schools and as part of our Alternative Provision offer within the Norfolk County Council framework.
➡️We support young people who are finding school overwhelming to rebuild confidence, regulate emotions, and re-engage with learning in a way that feels safe and manageable.
➡️We accept referrals all year round — so if something isn’t working, you don’t have to wait.

💭🗣️If you’re wondering what support might look like, we’re always happy to have a no-pressure conversation.

Goodbye April… hello May.

We’ve had such an exciting April. The arrival of the sunshine has definitely lifted everyone’s mood.

Watch this space—we have some really exciting developments coming as we continue to grow and expand our offer to support young people and their families.

We’ve celebrated a very big birthday and a not-so-big birthday within our team 🎉

This month has been full of positivity, and it’s been wonderful to see children thriving in our environment. It’s not always easy, and seeing children struggle can be incredibly hard—but we will continue to work tirelessly to make a difference.

🌱 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 — 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐞’𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!🌱

Last year, we were absolutely blown away to win a Flourish Award in the Healthy Category. It meant the world to our team — not just as recognition, but as a celebration of the children, young people and families we walk alongside every day.

This year, we’d be honoured if you would consider 𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 again for a 2026 Flourish Award. These awards shine a light on organisations, teams and individuals who go above and beyond to help Norfolk’s children and young people flourish.

Your nomination would mean so much in highlighting the importance of mental health support and strengthening our ability to continue helping young minds thrive.

Your child’s self-worth is being shaped by an algorithm.

They’re not just scrolling. They’re comparing. Measuring. Performing.
Boys are learning what a man “should” look like.
Girls are learning what they “have to” be.
Perfect bodies. Perfect lives. No emotion. No flaws. No off days.
And when they can’t match it?
They don’t question the image.
They question themselves
This is where the damage starts.

𝐀𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 “𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬.”
𝐖𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬.
𝐖𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠.

𝐖𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩.

Using ACT-based approaches, we help them:
– notice and step back from unhelpful thoughts
– build self-acceptance instead of self-criticism
– focus on who they want to be, not how they’re told to look
– develop a healthier relationship with social media—not fear it
We explore it together. Honestly. Without judgement.

Because the goal isn’t to remove the world they live in—
it’s to help them navigate it without losing themselves.
