This important group meet weekly within the Viewing Gallery on the first floor at Ochilview Park which offers a safe space for women in our community, and beyond, to engage & discuss the challenges that they may face in life.

This FREE group is open from 6.30pm. There is no idea to register. Simply come to Ochilview Park, enter via the Reception and then take the stairs, turn left and along to the Terje Eriksen Suite (viewing gallery) where Suzanne and Donna will welcome you.

The Edge

Standing at the edge of a new chapter can be scary. The desire to run back into the pages you know so well, is more than tempting. But you must keep moving. Chapters end, even the good ones. And if you linger in the past too long, your story cannot unfold the way it should. And you might just miss the most beautiful moments of your life, whilst grieving the ones gone by. It’s scary at the edge my friend, I know. But just jump. You have so much ahead. And the good stuff behind, will always be there.

Sleep is fundamental to our wellbeing and survival. However, some types of sleep can be more helpful than others. A form of deep sleep, known as slow-wave-sleep, is associated with maintaining good health but can reduce with stress or age. A team of researchers (Cordi, Rossier & Rasch, 2020) wanted to find out if hypnosis before bed could encourage people to have more slow-wave sleep. In the study, 43 participants were connected to EEG machines and provided tapes for either a 15-minute pre-recorded hypnosis session or a 15-minute tape about an unrelated subject, then allowed to sleep for 8 hours. The EEG machines measured the participants’ brainwaves as they were sleeping so that the researchers could assess the quality of their sleep.

The results showed that the people who were more susceptible to hypnosis had significantly more slow-wave-sleep compared to the control group. This suggests that hypnosis could help many of us to get a more restful night’s sleep.

It felt amazing to move from thinking about it to doing it and to share that sense of achievement and fun together.

A great reminder that confidence grows through action. When we let go of hesitation and take that first step, we open ourselves up to new experiences and lasting memories. ✨
