Cultural conditioning can lead us to believe that with the arrival of a new year it must bring significant change. Heavy self expectations accumulate with goal posts that feel impossible to reach. Frustration building when we dont "achieve" what we think we should be according to social norms.
We are seasonal beings. Just like the earth and animals our bodies, minds as well as energy levels change. Winter brings times of slower rhythms encouraging us to do so too. Shorter daylight hours in winter shift our internal clock, increasing melatonin production, gifting us lower energy levels, mood and motivation.
That being said in the moments of feeling your not as energetic or motivated as you would like to be, choose to offer yourself a little self compassion, remembering we are nature. Choose to move a little slower, gentler and more lovingly and notice how that makes you feel. 🤍✨️🤍
