📢 Important Information About Home Visit Requests

To help us provide the safest and most efficient care possible, we kindly ask that all home visit requests are made before 10:00am where possible.

If you require a home visit, please select option 1 on the phone line when the options are given to you.

Requesting visits before 10am allows our duty doctor to:

✅ Plan and prioritise visits based on clinical need
✅ Ensure any blood tests required can be taken during the visit
✅ Arrange for samples to reach the laboratory the same day
✅ Organise any additional equipment or support that may be needed
✅ Liaise with district nurses or other community services if required
✅ Reduce delays and provide more timely care
We understand that urgent issues can arise later in the day, and these will always be assessed appropriately. However, wherever possible, contacting us before 10am greatly helps us coordinate care safely and effectively.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support 💙

29/01/2026

Due to unforeseen shortage of clinical staff, our Urgent on the day appointments for tomorrow, Friday 30th January, will be extremely limited.

Please only contact the surgery if your complaint cannot wait.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Many thanks.

Primary Care Mental Health Nursing Service

Are you struggling with issues that affect your mental health? You can arrange an appointment with the Practice Primary Care Mental Health Nurse (PCMHN).

About PCMHN service:

We aim to provide an environment in your GP practice for the exploration of issues which may be affecting your mental health. We can then work together to help you find ways to improve your health and wellbeing with a focus on self-help outside appointments with your nurse.

This service is available for individuals aged 18 and over.

We are able to provide advice and treatment in regards to:

• Anxiety and Stress—Education and guidance about ways to manage symptoms associated with anxiety and stress.

• Low mood and depression—Lifestyle advice to aid issues with mood and self-help strategies you can explore and develop. We are also able to provide information and access to online resources including online and text based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

• Trauma –Self-help advice regarding management of symptoms related to trauma. The PCMHN will discuss onward referral for counselling or trauma related therapy as appropriate.

• Relationships—Advice about how to access relationship counselling if you identify aspects of a relationship you would like aid in addressing.

• Autism and ADHD - The nurse is not able to assess or diagnose cases of Autism or ADHD but can assist with self-help strategies to help manage symptoms as well as discussing appropriateness of referral to other services.

• We can consider medication options if this is indicated and appropriate.

Referral Criteria:
You can make appointment with the PCMHN via reception at your GP surgery-this is a self-referral service. Other healthcare professionals in the practice may also suggest you have an appointment with the PCMHN and arrange this for you following review.
Please note- If you are engaged in treatment with another service, such as counsellor, psychologist, and community mental health team or Consultant psychiatrist the PCMHN is likely to suggest that ongoing care and treatment is provided via that service.

🌟 Community Sessions: Keeping Steady and Well 🌟

As part of our ongoing efforts across NHS FV and our partnership networks, we're excited to introduce 'Keeping Steady and Well' – a series of community sessions designed to help you stay independent and maintain your bone health.

These one-off sessions provide local opportunities for the public to learn simple, effective ways to:

Reduce the risk of falls
Maintain bone strength
Preserve independence

Who can benefit?
Anyone awaiting specialist input or with early concerns about falls or bone health. These sessions focus on self-management and are open to all, with booking required. Participants will need to arrange their own transport.
For those unable to attend in person, we will also offer online sessions.

Important:
These are general information sessions, not individual assessments or treatments. If more complex support is needed, please refer to the appropriate specialist services.

📅 Upcoming sessions:
Check out the attached poster for the initial dates. Additional sessions will be announced throughout the year.
Participants can register for any session, regardless of their local area, as long as they can organise their own transport.

Cases of flu are high this winter, so if you’re wondering whether it’s just a cold or you’re floored with flu here’s what to do.

Most symptoms can be safely managed at home. Rest, drink plenty of fluids, and use paracetamol or ibuprofen to ease aches and fever. Your pharmacist can advise on cold and flu remedies.

Antibiotics won’t help with colds and flu as they are viruses – time and self-care are best.

To stop the spread:
💉 get your flu vaccination if you are eligible
🧼 wash your hands regularly
😷 cover coughs and sneezes
